Commercial Description:
A life worth living is full of discovery and we are reminded everywhere there is opportunity. All it takes is desire to seek out and find these things, these moments and everything in between. We brewed Lost and Found Abbey Ale to pay homage to the great monastic breweries of Belgium. Like us, we hope you’ll take the time to discover a beer that breathes aromas of figs, raisins and candied fruits. Please join us by raising your glass as we offer a toast to patience, perseverance, and all the things we have lost along the way and were somehow lucky enough to find once again.

Bottled, thanks cquiroga! Cloudy nut brown, average head. Caramelly nose. Sweet and fairly soft with medium body. Mild and spritzy, fruity and lightlyestery. So melon and metal shows up as well. Stays shy of being overpowering and cloying, and is instead mild and laid back. Somehow the flavour doesn’t really cover the whole mouth as in the best Belgian ales.

Bottled. Hazy amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is sour fruits, nuts and slight caramel. Flavour is caramel, nuts, some alcohol and a bit of licorace. A very smoothly and pleasantly balanced brew.

Sample from 750 ml bottle at the Mondial, Montreal (May 2007). Dark, hazy caramel body with a decent jigger of head, nicely lasting and with thick lacing....wonderfully rich, sweet, decadent aroma, fine herbs and a bit of hardwood smoke, caky and juicy....the body, however, is fairly dry and yeasty-cobwebby, the sugars much subdued....hints of dry grape/wine character grow stronger towards the effervescent, lightly tart finish....quite supple and airy on the tongue, but never for a moment feeling thin or watery....this is quite an interesting take on the dubbel, beautifully constructed and uncompromising, just lovely.

Hazy nut brown color, small brownish head. Caramel, yeast and fresh vegetables in the nose. Quite alcoholic, feels even higher than 7 %. Caramelly-toffeish, some hops, loads of yeast there. This beer has lost its soul on the way, but drinkable it is.

Sampled the night before DLD. Slightly hazed brown pour with off white head. The aroma and flavor are dominated by the yeastiness. The flavor has some dried fruit like raisins as well. Slightly fizzy/foamy for me but a good beer. Carbonation is a bit of an issue for me but the flavor and mouthfeel over come that to make this a solid offering.

(Bottled, 0.75l) Murky amber color with a small, but lasting head. Lots of sweet, dark fruit, grainy malt, and some alcohol in the aroma. Sweet-malty flavor with lots of dried and fresh fruit. Some acidity, and a drier ashiness in the finish. Medium-bodied, quite low-carbonated palate. Too sweet and acidic to be really enjoyable - maybe not at its best?
