Commercial Description:
A life worth living is full of discovery and we are reminded everywhere there is opportunity. All it takes is desire to seek out and find these things, these moments and everything in between. We brewed Lost and Found Abbey Ale to pay homage to the great monastic breweries of Belgium. Like us, we hope you’ll take the time to discover a beer that breathes aromas of figs, raisins and candied fruits. Please join us by raising your glass as we offer a toast to patience, perseverance, and all the things we have lost along the way and were somehow lucky enough to find once again.

750 ml bottle bought in Grand Junction, CO at College Liquors. Pours a dark red-brown color with a small white head. The aroma is fruity; some sweet fruit notes, light nutty notes and some yeast. The flavor is very fruity, sweeter fruit notes, some dark fruit and raisin flavors, yeast, light tartness, and a smooth but disappointingly light mouthfeel. A nice beer for sure. And of course, a cool label.

Bottle... Murky burnt orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Earthy, fruity, tangy aroma – notes of wood, chocolate, dark fruits and lactic acid. Medium-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and dancing carbonation. The flavor of this one is all about the acidity. Tart and tangy with a chocolaty undertone. Mild sweetness. A Flanders dubbel? Crisp, tangy, lightly dry finish. Kudos to giarcsr for shipping this bottle to Florida!

Good for a dubbel despite not being extremely complex. Pours reddish-brown with a beige head. Sweet, fruity aroma. Taste is dark malt, dark fruits (esp. raisins), brown sugar, and some yeast although not as intense as in your average Belgian. Standard palate for the style. Re-rate: much better on tap at Toronado. Strong dark fruit flavor with brown sugar, earth, and yeast. Palate only average but overall really enjoyable.

Crushed with Jakebra. Lots of fruits throughout. Incredibly smooth. Very nice. Surprisingly not incredibly good, but definitely pretty sexy. Plenty to complement here, and nothing really to complain about.

Bottle thanks to Hophead22. Had to pour hard to get a thin light tan head that disappears instantly over a dark brown-red body. Faint aroma of candied fruits, raisins. Feels a bit flat on the tongue wonder if the cork didn’t really hold up. Taste is great, raisins, light molasses, prunes, candi sugar.

Complex, toasted malts with once again, dried fruits throughout and a low hop presence. The raisin flavor shone through in this one due to the addition of a raisin puree. I’m not sure whether the Belgians would be delighted or disgusted, but in any case, a great beer, maybe even one to cellar for a year to see where it ends up.

Bottle. One of the last in a long and very tasty evening, so it didn’t distinguish itself as much as it might have on a slow night. Brown with a reddish tint and a big beige head. The usual dubbel notes, but more earthy; not just reliant on caramel and sweet fruits. Yeast, earth, and some metallic notes. Somewhat thin on the palate. Good.

Bottle into chalice. Pours cloudy dark red-brown, thin beige head. Nose is sweet - raisins come through big, lots of spicy brown sugar, hint of red grape acidity, with a round, bready yeast note in there also. Taste is fairly dry up front - big raisin and ripe fig note melding with some brown sugar sweetness that emerges just a bit later, and a bready, slightly spicy yeast note that gets more full as the initial dryness eases up a bit. Finish is clean, with the raisin and yeast notes lingering lightly on the exhale. Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth, light and fluffy. Really delicious, yeast is at just the right level to mesh with the other flavors instead of dominating them. Perfectly executed.
