Commercial Description:
A life worth living is full of discovery and we are reminded everywhere there is opportunity. All it takes is desire to seek out and find these things, these moments and everything in between. We brewed Lost and Found Abbey Ale to pay homage to the great monastic breweries of Belgium. Like us, we hope you’ll take the time to discover a beer that breathes aromas of figs, raisins and candied fruits. Please join us by raising your glass as we offer a toast to patience, perseverance, and all the things we have lost along the way and were somehow lucky enough to find once again.

In short: Intense Dubbel. Rich nutty/fruity body and powerful hopping. One of my favourite of the style.
How: Bottle, 750ml, various aging (little variation), this rating for a 6+ months old bottle
The look: Cloudy golden-brown body with a medium beige head
In long: Strong nutty and caramel nose with also quite a bit of resinous hops. Taste is like eating one of those grocery store bags of mix stuff (nuts, raisins, dried fruits) covered by rich caramel. Some earthy notes. The intense citric and resinous hops really sets it apart from most dubbels. So tasty that you want to drink it slowy. Body is just more decadent as a big \barley wine. Dubbels don’t get much better than that. I got a lot of satisfaction from the Lost & Found, but still no sign of my missing gloves.

750. Thanks, Aspidites! Murky brownish amber. Thick moussy bubbles and intensely deep tan head. Lots of stalagtites on the side of the glass, too. Big musty apricto and plum nose. Smells like breakfast preserves you might spread on toast. Plummy body in a huge way--nougaty, too, and sweet, delicious...but almost too sweet.

From the bottle, pours dark ruby with mahogany tones and a small khaki head. Rich sweet nose of chocolate covered raisin, cherry, port, and vanilla. Flavor is sweet, but never cloying due to the higher carbonation in the finish, palate remains crisp and light, getting away from the syrupy body that could have been. The depth really shows in the flavor, picking up the the raisin and almost prune sweet flavors up front, followed by chocolate, vanilla, and faint dark rum quality. This beer just keeps getting better as it warms, more fruit and subtle spices show. Very enjoyable beer.

Bottle: Muddy brown, quite dirty, caramel highlights, large light beige foamy head, fairly sticky lacing.   Big bready malty nose, slight pale fruit skin, along with raisins, figs, and dates.   Even though its only 7%, it seems like there is a bit of alcohol there.   Subtle notes of caramel and toffee.   Extremely bready on the tongue, warming for a 7% brew.   Aformentioned dark pitted fruit, but mainly a strong breadiness with a minor spiced aspect.   Seems to be a little bit of alcohol that is noticeable.   Almost seems its higher than whats stated on the bottle.   Wow, this one really is meaty!   Moderatey body, heavy mouthfeel.   Figgy finish, trailering alcohol, remains heavily breaded.   This is one malty mo-fo.   Very yeasty too.   Well built, but quite heavy.   T’was somewhat sweet, but towards the end it gets drier and a little salty like.   Tiz best to share a 750ml with someone as this one here drinks like a meal!   Thanks Tad for the bottle!

(Rating #1244)

Deep mahogany-red-brown, slight haze and tan head. Complex gamy aroma includes roots and Chinese herbs like a healing tea. Also mincemeat tarts, fig jam, dates in the flavors. Walnuts and baklava without sugar. Finishes clean and delightful. Really nice, sophisticated stuff.

750ml Bottle: Very complex aroma. Smells sweet with notes of raisins, plums, dark fruits, figs, and brown sugar. Poured orange/red/brown in color with a small tan head that lasted throughout. Sparkling. Hazy. Flavor is heavily sweet. Tastes of dark fruits, figs, raisins, chocolate, yeast, and alcohol. Medium to full body. Chalky texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, chalky finish. Way too sweet.
