Cloudy brown hue, with a thick tan-colored head, yeasty, fruity nose of candied dried fruits of figs, raisins, with a spicy nutmeg, brown sugar note, a cookie dough, with a chocolatey, toasted, caramelized malts, with a faint mochaish hint in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, chocolatey character, with some raisiny, figgy and plummy, winey fruitiness, with a grainy toasted malt, some mild toffeeish and caramel accents, with a sip of black coffee, within a brandy liquor mouthfeel, leading towards a warmth alcoholic, malty, dry hop finish.

Pours deep ruby mahogany into a trappist glass. Offwhite medium head with excellent retention leaves no lacing as it slowly recedes. Fig and apricot aromas. Lively with upfront pit fruit and a dry, lasting candi finish.

Bottle from Zug4abby. Thanks, wherever you are these days. Pours a deep amber red with an off white head. Aggressive aroma of raisen, maple, and vanilla. Initial flavor of dark fruits and vanilla that transitions to flavors of yeast, grains, and figs. Lots of phenols on the finish, with a wisp of booziness. Not bad. Could use a little more heft in the malt department for my personal tastes. Wife loved it

Bottle thanks to Hophead22. Had to pour hard to get a thin light tan head that disappears instantly over a dark brown-red body. Faint aroma of candied fruits, raisins. Feels a bit flat on the tongue wonder if the cork didn’t really hold up. Taste is great, raisins, light molasses, prunes, candi sugar.

A lovely domestic example of a Belgian dubbel, more substantial and satisfying than Allagash’s roughly comparable effort. I like the lively, fizzy mouthfeel, especially insofar as it doesn’t compromise the robust flavors, which include brown sugar, sweet raisins, and some lovely bready notes. A bit of a tart finish from the yeast, this is a damn fine beer.

Blind rating at sk8viking´s. Pours a brown hazy with an off-white head. Smells of alcohol. Quite sweet with caramel flavors. Also yeast notes and spicy/grassy hints. High carbonation. Long sweet caramel finish.

Brown w. a hint of orange, decent amount of sediment, light tan head. Nose is fruit - apples, cherries, grapes mixed with a healthy dollop of yeast, caramel, slight alcohol, fig. Flavor is caramel, fruit, nuts, yeast, alcohol. Chocolate in the finish. Butter but in no way aggressive. Very solid.
