Commercial Description:
A life worth living is full of discovery and we are reminded everywhere there is opportunity. All it takes is desire to seek out and find these things, these moments and everything in between. We brewed Lost and Found Abbey Ale to pay homage to the great monastic breweries of Belgium. Like us, we hope you’ll take the time to discover a beer that breathes aromas of figs, raisins and candied fruits. Please join us by raising your glass as we offer a toast to patience, perseverance, and all the things we have lost along the way and were somehow lucky enough to find once again.

Bottle. Deep garnet color with a tan head. Subtle aromas that seem to go on and on... Bananas, dark fruit, leather, bubble gum; I’d be happy to sit and sniff this beer all night. Flavor is sweet with more dark fruits; raisins and dates primarily but there’s some banana and candy in there as well. Bubbly with a warm bready note. Quite spicy. Sweet/ dry finish.

Pours a dark clear brown color, off white head. Aroma is strong belgian notes. Raisins and plums come to mind immediately. Flavor starts with vanilla, sweet with some lavender/floral notes. Sweet end with a nice body to it.

750ml corked and caged bottle: Soft brown colored pour with a firm tan cap. The nose is simple but enjoyable with a nice mix of raisins, caramel and alcohol. Big, sweet body offers an expansion on the malty nose, with roast, sweet chocolate and butter joining the mix. The raisins hit the tongue on the back end, along with a good dose of ethery alcohol. The yeast seems secondary here, not adding enough Belgian oomph. No complex esthers to speak of. I was also expected the addition of raisins to play off the malty raisin and plum notes that I have come to love in this style. This example falls a bit flat for me.

750 ml bottle I picked up in Idaho. Poured dark caramel with a thin tan head and minimal lacing. Aroma is full of brown sugar, figs, raisins, candi sugar and caramel. Flavor is very malty with caramel, a prominent raisin and fig mix and some light sugar. Not my favorite beer in this style, but a solid brew all the same. Beautiful label as usual from LA.

Bottle from realale420. Dark brown with tan colored head. Plums, rasins, figs, and caramel aroma. The taste was the same and very smooth. Soft, dare I say delicate mouthful. I would have rated this beer higher but as it warmed it took on an almost pepper like flavor. Thanks, Brian

Bottle. Sampled at Monk’s cafe Lost Abbey dinner 2/6/07. Poured ruby brown with moderate tan head. Strong malty aroma. Malt comes through in the flavor, along with fruit (raisin, plum), alcohol and yeast.
