Bottled at Chuck’s thanks to Matt! Poured a deep caramel/chocolate with a darker middle and a ring of off-white head. Nose was of dark fruits and raisins.. some alcohol and oxidation notes too. Flavor was heavier with rich caramel and toffee notes.. grainy alcohol at the edges and finish.. lesser dark fruit than the aroma. Tart and alcohol feel on the palate detracted from the drink a bit.. a little flat. Solid brew, but mild tweaking could make it great.

This was one of the sweetest Belgium beers I ever had, on tap at Solena Beach. I declined a bottle purchase. It is amber red with lots of lace, very fresh. Fresh yeast aroma. WIll it get less candy after ageing? That would help. Good body, but only sweetness dominates and it’s cloying.

Bottle (750ml). Shared with blankboy, jerc, mabel, mds and tupalev - my bottle via trade with DarkElf - DarkElf+ Fest ’07!!. Cloudy fairly deep orange/brown, small creamy head. Sweet, spicy and yeasty aroma - lactic, with some sweet floral hop overtones. Taste - really nice - lactose, soft sweet spice, confectioners sugary malt, very smooth, not much alcohol presence, slight sharp bitterness in the finish. Average body, somewhat syrupy, increasing spice funkiness - really soft and lovely and spicy - well done!

This Abbey Double pours a deep brown color form a cork finished 750ml bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head. Aroma is bready, yeasty, with raisins, plums, bananas and dates. A medium bodied Dubbel. Malts are fruity and sweet. Lots of fruit flavors (banana and plum) with some decent bready malt. Slightly spicy with some nice bright yeasts. Soft carbonation. Good balance. Nice sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with some spices.

Bottle. Brown body with a moderate beige head that fades. (3+) Mildly yeasty Belgian aroma, light sweet fruit, mild caramel. Tangy fruit melds with the yeast in the flavour, light caramel malt. Fruity yeast emerges even more as it warms. Medium palate. Medium palate (3+). This is quite lovely, but I found myself wanting the caramel and malt to be just a touch more assertive. Dangerously drinkable.

Bottle. [Blind tasting session @ Sk8viking] #10 Small fizzy white head that was mostly diminishing. Hazy amber/brown color. Aroma was Heavy malt with notes of caramel, grain, toffee, toasted. Some hoppy and spicy notes as well. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor with light bitter notes. Sweet finish.

Bottle at Falling Rock Taphouse, Denver. Deep red/brown - white head. Berries, fruity, sweetness, ryebread, raisins, typical belgian - just a lot cleaner, marzipan notes, spicy. Lovely.

(Bottled, 0.75l) Murky amber color with a small, but lasting head. Lots of sweet, dark fruit, grainy malt, and some alcohol in the aroma. Sweet-malty flavor with lots of dried and fresh fruit. Some acidity, and a drier ashiness in the finish. Medium-bodied, quite low-carbonated palate. Too sweet and acidic to be really enjoyable - maybe not at its best?
