A nice dubbel-like aroma (which it is!). Flavor is smooth and spicy with a little fruit. Really goes down easy and has a nice balance. A little creamy.

Its amazing how different this is tasting to everyone, you look at the reviews its hard to believe we are drinking the same thing. I got a huge full aroma of caramely raisins, dates, pear, and Christmas cookie anise, taste was full of dark fruit, chocolate, candy sugar, and that wonderful anise, all the flavors were very full and distinct, stunning in its complexity, hardly a hint of the alcohol, very highly carbonated, has a carbonic bite to it,but a very amazing brew

Courtesy of Pailhead. Another bottle from winetr santa, I will revisit shortly. Absolutely loved this beer, appears I am in the minority. brilliant dark ruby, huge beige head, fades to ring of film. Spotty lacing. All kinds of dark fruit in the aroma and flavor. Fig, prune, grape, raisin. Certain chewy yeastiness to it. One dimensional in a way, but really enjoy it.

In short: Intense Dubbel. Rich nutty/fruity body and powerful hopping. One of my favourite of the style.
How: Bottle, 750ml, various aging (little variation), this rating for a 6+ months old bottle
The look: Cloudy golden-brown body with a small beige head
In long: Strong nutty and caramel nose. Taste is like eating one of those grocery store bags of mix stuff (nuts, raisins, dried fruits) covered by rich caramel. Some earthy notes. The intense citric hops really sets it apart from most dubbels. So intense that it’s hard to take big sips. Body is just as decadent as high-class scotch ales or barley wines. Dubbel s don’t get much better than that. I got a lot of satisfaction from the Lost & Found, but still no sign of my missing gloves.

On tap at Stone Brewery in Escondido, CA. Pours a deep reddish brown. The banana esters come through strong but not too strong. Wonderful aroma of other ripe fruits. Wonderful taste to match. Sweet taste all teh way through. Smooth palate with an after-taste that leaves me wanting more. One of my favorites. I just wish I bought some bottles of it when I was in CA.

Pours darker than I was expecting with a reddish hue to it. Smell is dark fruits, but to my pleasant surprise there was a bit of sourness to it. This has a huge mouthfeel and is very pleasant. There are plenty of juicy, dark fruits in this offering. This may be my favorite Lost Abbey beer to date. You never notice the ABV. The complexity in this beer is very nice and everything works wonderul together. Very well done.

Pours a beautiful dark amber, hazy, cloudy color with a few hints of ruby tones, peircing through the goblet. There wasn’t much in the way of a head, or lacing. There were tiny bubbles that cascaded through the beer on the pour, but they slowly subsided and made their way down to join the fun in the liquid. The scent was purely wonderful. Raisins, figs, malt, fruit, yeast...couldn’t wait to sip this baby. The taste fully consumed my palate and made me crave another. Very beautiful taste and mouthfeel with a coating, lasting malty flavor and a perfect play on the palate. This is my first Lost Abbey of many to come. I loved this beer and look forward to many more from LA.

Bottle. Dark brown with a slight The aroma is of roasted malt, raisins and perhaps other dry fruit. The flavor is likewise with some fruits coming through because of the yeast. I think this beer is elegant and has a very complex flavor that is best for sipping and contemplation. This is my favorite brew from this brewery. There just is not any other brews out there that are on the same level as this one!
