Aroma of plum, orange, raisin, some sweet brown sugar and caramel malts. Fairly clean but yeasty. The carbonation is a bit zippy. Finishes with raisin notes, alcohol heat and a hint of peachiness.

The aroma was sweet and fruity with a good amount of raisiny notes. The flavor was sweet and of dried fruits. Yeasty notes with some red apples as well. A crisp dry finish. Mild bitter finish. jazz88 (2238), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 11, 2006 Bottle. A murky dark ruby brown color with a foamy light brown head. A raisin, sweet caramel, dark fruit, pepper and spiced aroma. A well spiced flavor with candy, figs, dark fruits, raisins, pepper, and banana in the flavor. This bottle is much better than the tap version I had two times at the Toronado. blank (998), Washington, Washington DC, USA

Fairly low carbonation, sweetish and candy-ish flavor. Pretty tasty. AlabastorJones (766), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 24, 2008 Had this on tap last night at the tap room in pacific beach and it was almost a religious experience, and had to run out and get a bottle for christmas eve dinner at my sisters house,
BOTTLE I have to admit as Im drinking it out of the bottle now it is not the same as it was on tap last night but ive got the bottle in front of me so this is what Im rating... foggy brown color with no head, date/raisin aroma, dark fruit flavor, alcohol present and feels pleasantly warming, not at all harsh or hot, mildly spicey, bright zesty fruity finish... he bottle im drinking has sort of an off tart/sour flavor that is way off, maybe an old bottle that wasnt kept very well (from BevMo), the beer I had on tap last night didnt have the off sour finish at all, it was nearly a perfect ale... the difference is startling...
ON DRAFT Heres the rating that I wrote down last night... Dark red body, thin white head, plumbs, dates, trappist yeast banana nose, bubble gum flavor, wow, light lemon flavor, roses, light fruit on a dark body, complex and very interesting, sooooo good, wow, blown away by this beer
The rating is sort of merge between the two experiences. JK (2966), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

There is sweet malt in the aroma. Opaque brown appearance. Flavor has some fruit, including prunes and apple, as well as sweet malt. A thick beer, and very good in or out of its style.
