Aroma was good; with hints of dark fruit, brown sugar, bubblegum, yeast. Flavor had very strong chocolate component; also hints of caramel, dark fruits, and candy sugar. I enjoyed this, and it got better throughout the tasting. kevd193213 (504), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 7, 2007 750ml. Pours dark ruby with a tiny but well sustained white head. Aroma is very sweet, syrupy, dark fruits, but in a good way. Raisins. Smells like a lighter version of a Bernardus 12 or a Rochefort 10. Or maybe that’s just the raisins. Tastes the same as the aroma. Yeah, this is pretty good. alexsdad06 (1091), Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 8, 2009 750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy brownish amber color with a medium fine beige head. The aroma had a good amount of dried dark fruits, moderate sweetness, biscuity malt, and a splash of caramel. The flavor had moderate sweetness, dried dark fruits with raisin being more pronounced in the finish, bready/biscuity malt, and a touch of a warming bite at the end. Medium to medium full bodied and quite good. I’ve found that the Lost Abbey beers with the least hype are the ones that I can see myself drinking over again. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 9, 2007 750 mL bottle - pours dark red with slight white head around the edges; thick aromas of dry fruit, brown sugar and obvious alcohol, which doesn’t come out much in the flavors; drinks creamy smooth; i served it too cold and the textures came out once it warmed slightly Drink4Satan (586), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 19, 2008 Pours a murky rusted mud colour with a small tan head that fades quick and produces no lacing. The nose emanates feet from the glass, ripe with fig, port, and candy sugar. The flavour more dry than the nose suggests, though it is still very sweet. This is a near perfect representation of an abbey dubbel. The raisins are evident in the flavour, though not overwhelmingly so. The finish is dry and a bit watery. The body is a little watery as well. hapjydeuce (772), Del Mar, California, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 30, 2007 Updated: Aug 28, 2007Dark amber/brownish color. Very smooth with flavors of figs, raisins, caramel, cherries, and other items contributing to this very sweet ale. I would have preferred a little more balance in the sweet department, but I think that is what they were going for anyway. Does not compare to the trappist beers it was trying to imitate.
