It has a good malted fruit aroma with a similar flavor that also includes some mild hops. A medium bodied brew, the dark fruit notes in the background are probably the high point. illinismitty (1801), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Pours a deep amber red with an off white head. Aggressive aroma of raisen, maple, and vanilla. Initial flavor of dark fruits and vanilla that transitions to flavors of yeast, grains, and figs. Lots of phenols on the finish, with a wisp of booziness. Not bad. Could use a little more heft in the malt department for my personal tastes. Pours a murky, brownish color; light tan head with good retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Generous, dried fruit and caramel aroma; biscuity and slightly dry. Medium-to-full, chewy mouthfeel: pleasant dried dark fruits and bready, biscuity warmth; very nice American-made dubbel, the best I’ve had in a while. Medium, dark malt and bready finish. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

Slightly hazed brown pour with off white head. The aroma and flavor are dominated by the yeastiness. The flavor has some dried fruit like raisins as well. Slightly fizzy/foamy for me but a good beer. Carbonation is a bit of an issue for me but the flavor and mouthfeel over come that to make this a solid offering. omhper (12299), Stockholm, Sweden

Sweet and fairly soft with medium body. Mild and spritzy, fruity and lightlyestery. So melon and metal shows up as well. Stays shy of being overpowering and cloying, and is instead mild and laid back. Somehow the flavour doesn’t really cover the whole mouth as in the best Belgian ales. hopscotch (5549), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 5, 2009 Bottle... Murky burnt orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Earthy, fruity, tangy aroma – notes of wood, chocolate, dark fruits and lactic acid. Medium-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and dancing carbonation. The flavor of this one is all about the acidity. Tart and tangy with a chocolaty undertone. Mild sweetness. A Flanders dubbel? Crisp, tangy, lightly dry finish. Kudos to giarcsr for shipping this bottle to Florida!
