SledgeJr (2960), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Oct 17, 2009 In the bomber bottle from Downtown Johnny Brown’s in San Diego. 2008 version. Cloudy pale yellow with a thin white effervescent head. Dominant citrus and grassy aroma. The flavor is yeasty and drying with lemon tartness. Oakiness and honey flavors (not sweetness). Reminds me of a very dry mead. djtimeless (170), Florida, USA Oct 13, 2009 Pours a hazy clear gold with lots of foam. Smells of Brett and lemons. Taste is citrus, spicey, hoppy and funky. Crisp and refreshing. Finish is dry with some bite. Tasty saison. sirpsycho (343), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 19, 2009 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy yellow, small white head, some lacing. Aroma is mostly a light yeast and citrus. Flavor is again citrus, some spices (pepper and coriander) and an underlying touch of yeast. Finish is slightly dry and slightly bitter. IrishBoy (2704), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 11, 2009 750 ml bottle from Hollingshead! Nose of yeast, light funk, and hints of citrus and spice. Cloudy yellow with a big lightly lacing pale yellow head. Flavor is lightly bretty, with some breadiness, yeast, and light spices. Finishes lightly funky and bitter. Ramenen (453), San Salvador, El Salvador Aug 8, 2009 Thanks to pollo. Drank it at Coatepeque lake with pollo and rcasta. A really nice beer, light bodied yet complex flavored. Not overly bitter and salty. rcasta (472), El Salvador Aug 8, 2009 gracias pollo en tu casa del lago con ramenen es buena cerveza de verano. semana de agosto 2009 FlyingTaco (112), Massachusetts, USA Jul 9, 2009 Original review date 9/1/2008...
Pours the color of a honey champagne blend...tight, soapy, yeasty head that goes pretty quickly on first pour - a little more staying power second time ’round. Nice wheat/yeast haze - almost lemon-ish color.
Bountiful, austere wheat and yeast - even a little sour milky Pilsener scent. A little soft oak and some very mellow coriander and orange zest.
This is tight with electricity. Hops have tight, micely astringent pine on them. Alcohol is there but balanced with hardcore yeast, wheat and oak. Complex - could even use warmth. Nice.
Decent, light tingle from solid carbonation. Citrusy and pine astringency provides a nice hop & sour pucker. Classic Saison tightness - like it’s constrained from the barrel.
This is very enjoyable - maybe abundance of flavor and feel preclude supreme drinkability but this is a good late afternoon warmup. Could it age or need warmth? Great classic Saison.
