| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Bottle from Capone’s. This one was scarce, and I thank the Doctor of Beers for holding one for me. Pours turbid gold with 2-finger clingy off-white head that reminds me of the Von Ostraden beers. Nose is beautiful, citrus, hops, orangy funky , with florals, and yeasty spicy esters. Tastes dry, very floral and hoppy, with white peppery and yeasty spicy notes. Palate is rich, complex. The flavor drops off a tad late, but this one will pound to into oblivion with its dry, floral, spicy, hoppy profile. after4ever (2828), Brier, Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Sep 19, 2008 750, corked and baled. Yeah, 2008 will be going down in my personal chronology as the year I became saison’s little bitch. Tomme Arthur didn’t introduce us, but he keeps fixing us up. This one’s not hurting saison’s efforts at all. It’s not like I’ve forgotten IPAs, but, damn, where was I, really, all those years? Pours a beautifully clouded-up tawny medium orange with a thick, egg-white-y platinum blonde head. Big grassy and floral nose with pleasant undertones of the faintest pine. Plenty of orange and orange blossoms there as well. Oranges roll across the mid-palate. Creamy, lightly sudsy, just shy of medium--perfectly drinkable body. I don’t use words like "perfectly" lightly when discussing beer. This beer is perfectly drinkable. Light resiny bitterness rolls up with the oranges, faint pine, grass, and orange blossoms, tying this all off gorgeously. Great stuff. badbeer (433), Iowa, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 18, 2008 Slightly hazy straw color with a white head that has excellent retention and leaves layers of lacing around the glass. Smell is of hay, clove, lemon, tangerine, coriander, and musty grass. Clove and earthy flavors at the forefront, quickly developing notes of tangerine, coriander, and dough before a spritzy citrus and clove finish. Firm carbonation, medium to high level, paired with a light body. I don’t think I actually like this beer as much as my rating shows, but I have to give credit for a great appearance and mouthfeel. Thanks to Weibull for the bottle. HumuloneRed (750), Portland, Oregon, USA
