Commercial Description:
Ne Goeien is Flemish for "A Good One." We’d like to think this beer is exactly that. When we invited Hildegard Van Ostaden from Urthel to come brew with us at Port Brewing, we hoped the collaboration of our brewers and her passion for brewing would result in one fine beer. A simple Saison styled beer with firm bitterness is all she requested. From the beginning, it was easy to imagine this beer as Ne Goeien all the way.

Bottle from Snojerk. Feel like I have been drinking a lot of saison’s and related beers lately. This one is pretty solid and has more of the citrus flavor bent. Pour is clear yellow and comes with a big foamy white head. Crisp aroma with some pilsner malt, toasted grain in there. Flavor again is bitter lemon and a grassy bitter finish. Relatively quick on the finish but a nice and refreshing drink.

750 bottle. Pours clear hazy gold with a big white head, lots of lace. Aroma of spice, yeast, citrus, banana phenols. Taste is nicely bitter, with some yeast, citrus, and more spice. Mouth has plenty of carbonation, and is relatively light-bodied. Overall, a very nice saison.

750 ml bottle from Mreusch. Thanks Matt! Light, hazy golden pour with a big, fluffy white head. Aroma of yeast, spicey, citrus and a tiny bit of funk and dust. Flavor is lightly fruity and yeasty, with a citric sweetness. Slight bitterness, nice malty finish. Mouthfeel has a pleasant amount of carbonation with a nice refreshing body. Basically, this is the Saison of your dreams.

Hazy, golden yellow with a fluffy head, white. Smells spicy and tastes the same. Extremely refreshing and as good if not better than Saison DuPont. If this was cheaper it would own Saison Dupont. Very nice saison and better than Red Barn, delicious and satisfying. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 10-12-2008 21:50:24

Creamy gold with the lees, soft pillowy lemon, hay, dusty summer aroma. Bracing astringent bitterness up front, smooth citrus follows. Sour malt hint in the finish.

Pours a yellowish gold with a big, thick head. Mellow, slightly spicy aroma with some light brown sugar, a bit of banana and mild hops. Gentle citrus fruits are more present in the flavor. Great balance, and great mouthfeel, but it’s simply a bit too delicate for my taste.

RBSG @ Lost Abbey. Poured a hazy yellow color with an almost white head. The aroma had just a hint of banana with clove and yeasty spices. Mild wheaty citrus notes. Citrus and yeasty flavor with a mild spice. Light body with a dry spice finish.
