Sample @ EBF ’09 - Wow, Wow, WOW! Pours a hazy gold with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is heavy sour, with detectable citrus and brett. Taste is FUNK with a citrus and lemon zest characteristic up front dissolving into that unmistakable and utterly sublime lambic sourness. The beer is wonderfully smooth, and just a home run on all fronts.

On tap at Lost Abbey barrel tasting on 11/15/2008. Crazy funky sour aroma. Lots of moldy feet aroma. Very sour. Some acetic acid. Light yellow. Flatish. Excelllllennntte! Easy to drink despite large sourness. Was told this was one of the sourest barrels to be used for Duck-Duck Gueuze.

Sampled at 08 barrel night. Hazy yellow pour with a thin white head. Pretty formidable funk aroma with sweet notes. Pretty tart and dry mouthfeel with flavors dominated by citrus. It definitely smooths out after a couple sips. Damn good beer.

Draft, numerous samples at NOTB and EBF. Pours murky golden, with a minimal off-white head. Very acetic aroma, with musty wild yeast, some citrus, and tropical fruit. Flavor brings a lot of apricot and peach, along with wild yeast, citrus, wood and acetic acid. Long, tart, acidic finish. This was one of my favorites at the fest.

Lets make it official. 10th rating of this brew. Tap @ Red Poppy Release. This was damn damn yummy. Pours orange with a bright white ring. Nose is super funky and somewhat sweet. Some vinegar on the nose. Taste is sweet and funky and sour and tart and yummers.

Forgot to rate this gem from the 2008 Barrel tasting. Hazy golden with just a tad of head. Sour sweet aromas. Very smooth and lasting on your palate. Great lemon, grapefruit flavors. Solid sour presence. Another impressive beer.

On tap at the Red Poppy release. Pours hazy yellow with no head. Funky and sweet aroma. Tastes like Isabelle tart-wise but much sweeter and fruiter.

Sampled at the 2008 Lost Abbey Barrel Tasting. Probably my favorite beer of the event. Cloudy yellow color with low to medium carbonation. Nice light and lacy white head. Sweet, funky and slightly peppery acidic aroma. Similar to Isabelle Proximus, however more tart and with more oak character. Mellowed barrel flavors of hay, soil, lemon rind, wood and funk. Very sour, but pleasantly sour finish. This could be an awesome gueuze addition considering the tartness. Extremely drinkable despite the acidity. Great stuff.
