Commercial Description:
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

Bottle: Hazy yellow blonde with a thin white head. Brighrt and spicey aroma, but I swear there is some creamed corn in there! A little fruit and spice. Tastes more fruity with Belgian spices and some straw. Pears. Ginger too. Lots of spice go well with the fruity medley.

Bottle shared by swolf3....thanks wolf. Cloudy orange in color, decent head. Weak aroma of spices. Taste was light orange peel, and good amount of spices. Light in texture and carbonation. I enjoyed it.

Cloudy and golden and hazy. Perfect Saison color. Very odd nose; I get a ton of salt water....odd. Also some spice and wheat. The flavor is pretty bitter but finishes with a citrus splash. Really dry finish. I’m not a huge fan of the style, but this is a good example of it.

Clear honey gold. Dense cap of clingy white froth adorns the glass. Unpleasant whiff of plastic and apple juice overshadow the delicateness of the flowery hops. Light notions of grass clippings, peach, clove, banana bread, and coriander. Soft carbonation. Rough-edged from the get-go, as a plasticlike astringency combines with protrusive alcohol to wreak havoc toward the swallow. Dirty, unrefined grassy bitterness assaults the palate and, along with the limp and overripe fruitiness, outweighs the flowery-hop accents at the center. Flash of clove and bubblegum departs just as quickly as it arrives. Aside from the muted honeyish sweetness which the grains struggle to generate, the structure and depth drastically suffer due to the poor definition of the grains coupled with the rampant overripe fruitiness. Finishes quite brashly and dirtily, as lingering notes of peppery alcohol, apple juice and plastic add to the mess. As with Devotion, this is riddled with flaws most notably the plastic The aroma is rather boring, and the spices, albeit judiciously used, obscure any yeast-derived nuance that might try to exude. The off-putting scents of apple juice don’t help. A rather dirty example.

750ml bottle. poured medium yellow, with a white head. Aroma of pepper, almost makes me sneeze. Light and smooth with more pepper on the palate. Very interesting, not bad.

Fills an orange goblet with its lovely viscosity. Plush cream head. Peppered aroma initiates contact with the nose. Flavor has an easy black pepper and lightly touched ginger complexity.

Really nice spicy aroma. Like a Wit but with far more flavor floating around there in your nose. Lots of fruit and a bit of the wild flavor. Pepper, orange, citrus. Little tart/sour to it. Very well done.

Bottle split between two pints poured a nice golden yellow with a fluffy white head. Great carbonation. Apples, cider, and yeast in the aroma. Good amount of pepper and spice in the initial taste. Very sweet after a dry beginning. Carbonation cuts through the sweetness. Tart finish.
