Commercial Description:
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

75 cL bottle. Pours hazy to murky orange with a creamy white head. Orange fruity, mild citric and smooth yeasty aroma. Dry hoppy and spiced in the initial flavour. Mild dry brett presence following a long a mild yeasty mellow flavour ad light caramel base. Rather dry. Good brew that goes great with pasta.

Unclear hazy medium yellow orange color with a small to average, frothy, fair lancing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, moderate hoppy, moderate yeast, spicy, ginger. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, the finish is quit ginger - peppery. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (240508)

Light golden straw color with a nice frothy carbonated head. Sweet malty aroma. Yeasty with hints of date. Sweet , zesty flavor hints of citrus and spices. You can taste slight hint of pepper in the aftertaste. All of the flavors mesh very well if you can get past the sweetness very drinkable.

Pours a cloudy golden with a huge frothy off white head. Aroma is medium sweet ginger, lemon, orange and dough. Flavor is ginger, yeasty, some clove and citrus. Long dry finish. Light to medium body, creamy texture. A very fine example of the style.

Bottle. Aroma was a bit odd, notes of musty spices, bitterish orange peel, some earth. Flavor a delicious bready malt with a complex herbal and spice bitterness. Really grew on me after my initial impressions.

Bottle Pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma strongly of orange juice and other spices (corriander, clove), very sweet. Flavor of light funk, sour fruits, spritzy spices, orange peel, cinnamon, sweetness. Good, but a little sweet. My first Lost Abbey, but it didn’t blow me away (I couldn’t get over that super sweet OJ!!). Ok saison; I’ve had better.

Pours with a high foam that lasts. Aroma of spices, solvents and also some cider. Big body with a bit of sweetness. Small bitterness and also small acidity.
