Commercial Description:
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

Thanks ’TheCheeseMan!’ Pours a cloudy yellow-gold color with a huge pillowy white head that leaves sticky lacing. Aroma is orange zest, lemon, and spices. Taste is about the same. Very good but I miss those funky or apple-pie saisons; a bit much like a Belgian Tripel.

I never know what to expect with Saisons. I either like them or hate them. I like this one. Pours hazy yellow-gold with a huge white head. Spun sugar, musty malt, bananas, clove, and lemon in the nose. Sweet, light clean taste similar to a trippel. Great yeast ester bubblegum and clove flavors, and the ginger definitely enhances the taste here. More orange peel and pepper with lemon towards the back. Great warm-weather beer.

Bottle. Pours a hazy, golden orange with a soapy white head. Aroma is a sweet and musty malt. Flavor is more of the same, sweet and musty malt, touchs of spice, orange and in the background you taste the ginger and pepper. Finishes mild and dry. A very nicely done session beer.

Bottle thanks to Shyam. Bright golden/orange pour saturated with haziness and a lovely white head. Floral, yeasty, fruity nose. Same notes on the palate, but picked up menthol on the nose and palate as it warmed, and it came close to ruining an otherwise lovely experience. Possibly because there was some ginger in the food I was eating with it, that menthol/ginger flavor started to present itself too much. Main complaint is too much spice. Still, a very nice beer.

Pours a lightly hazy orange color with a medium foamy head which turns to nice lacing. Malty aroma with spice, light fruit, and some grain. Taste is similar, with pepper coming through on a very dry finish. I would definately enjoy this again!

Bottle: Thanks to my cousin for sharing this...poured a light orange color with no head. Spiced malts and some light floral fruit notes in the aroma. Good body, light and refreshing mouth feel yet still noticeable. Flavor pretty much followed the nose but was mildly dry and finished very nicely.

750, courtesy of snojerk. Pours a cloudy orange (cloudier on 2nd glass) with minimal head. Orange like aroma, with notes of flower and pepper.Flavor has a strange menthol and earth front, that finishes dry and clean.

A- Pours a deep cloudy orange color with a massive white head that slowly dissapates into tons of lacing. S- Smells of sweet fruits and malty goodness. Tangerine, banana and cloves are present in the nose. T- Taste is very wheaty and earthy, slight alcohol tones, dark fruits and a plethora of spices that while complex seem to be a little obtrusive to some of the other tastes trying to shine in this brew. M- Mouthfeel is extremely thick and well carbonated. D- This is a good sipper but i couldn’t see myself drinking more than one glass at a time. Senses overload with spices that complement the flavor, but take away from the drinkability.
