Commercial Description:
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

Bottle. pours a nice golden yelloy. Nice spicey herbal nose, peppar, yeast and floral hops. Decent mouthfeel with a good carbonation. Good session beer that would be great during the summer. I prefer the old SPF 45.

On tap at Stone. Pours light orange with a lasting foamy head. Aroma is citrus, spice, and yeast. Tastes sour and refreshing with good carb. Aftertaste is nice, but has a slighty stale, bitter finish.

Bottle. Hazy, cloudy, lemon brown color. Light head - quickly runs down and away from glass rim. No residue in bottom of glass. Spicy, coriander, pepper, a bit tart, sour smelling. 2nd sniff reveals more doughy, yeasty hints. Carbonated, acidic on tongue. Banana-yeasty flavor. Dry, quick finish, like a tease. Grassy, earthly elements noticeable but not too prominent. Nice job here.

Deep golden with a tinge of orange. The aromas were of orange rind, spice, lemon, yeast, pepper and a forest floor/pine element. In the mouth it is medium-bodied with lots of carbonation running through the midpalate. Tart and rather simple with an earthy dry finish.

750ml bottle from BevMo. Pours a mostly hazed golden orange with a pretty big off white head. Slight lacing was left on the tulip. Nose of citrus fruits and clove spice. Flavor was mostly spicy with some Belgian yeast and some citrus on the back drop.

First aroma is corn - and that flavor continues throughout the sip. It has a nice breadlike flavor, with notes of apple and the said corn, and a mellow aftertaste. Pours a cloudy golden with a fluffy white head that sticks around a while.
