Commercial Description:
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

Sampled at MN Ratebeer Winter Gathering in Maplewood, MN and supplied by joet. From a 22-oz bomber pours a clear golden pale brew with a thick and lumpy white head that has some excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of light bready malt, spiced yeast, a touch of black pepper, and some light ginger. Taste is medium bodied, a good balance of carbonation with flavors of bread and yeast character with a light pepper and citrus flavor. Finish is semi-dry with an aftertaste of spiced yeast and pepper. A pretty decent saison.

Gold in color with a little cloud and nice white head. Spice, grass, yeast and malt on the nose. Flavor is got a little bite up front with a nice malty yeasty taste. Some warmth on the finish with the alcohol, just enough to know its there. Very nice.

Light golden colour with a bit of a whiteish head. Not much of an aroma, flavour is light with a bit of pepper. Not too bad, not too notable.

MMM!!! How nice. A wonderful Saison with tons of malty goodness. Aroma is semi-sweet with a cloudy light red hue. Has a very nice medium head. Taste is smooth with a carbonated afterburn.

Eh, not bad. Golden color, nicely formed head, aroma is very fruity. The taste is a lot heavier than the color would have one believe. Spicey and yeasty taste.

Light amber with a eggshell white head. Nice spicy smell of ginger, black pepper, citrus fruit. Med. body and smooth. Taste is first spicy sweet with ginger and citrus then a dry pepper, grainy flavor to finish. Mild but complex flavors here.Apr 01/2007

750ml bottle: This one pours a rich, golden color. There was just a hint of haze, and a bit of an off-white head to it. The aroma is very fragrant. Earthy, musty, yeasty and grassy. The taste is very good. Somewhat fruity, grassy, spicy, just a mixed bag working VERY well together. A very good Saison.

Hazy cloudy yellow with big frothy head. Aroma was wheay and yeasty with a touch of must. Some light spice and orange falvour but otherwise pretty simple.
