Commercial Description:
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

Bottle from Boutip. Thanks Phil! Pours a hazy peach golden with nice lacing. Nose is heavy with spices--coriander, clove, grains of paradise. No funk. Flavor is more spices, wheat, slight hops and citrus. Mouthfeel is light and easy to drink. Alcohol not detected. A nice summer brew.

bottle....aroma: subtle aroma of yeast, barnyard, bread, and lightly spiced.....appearance: was of a nice cloudy belgian wheat style beer, light brownish yellow....taste: grass, wheat, citrus and a somewhat bitter dry finish....very refreshing for the summertime.

Opaque and rather cloudie. Intresting for a saison. Tasty, with the esters and bubble gum acting as a nice compliment.

750 mL corked bottle. Golden with great, foamy white head. Wheaty/yeasty aromas give way to a hoppy clove spice scents as well as some rounded fruits, berry, pears... Light spice, pepper, clove are present as well as a pleasing hops push. A nice summer beer

Cloudy orange-to-amber body with a huge huge huge quickly vanishing sculptable foamy white head like whipped cream or beaten egg whites. Nose of bread and yeast and a hint of citrus. Taste of bread, yeast, lemon and orange, very sweet, nicely balanced with a black pepper and ginger spice bite. Spice and citrus in the finish, with a hint of funk, and maybe some hops, Very nice.

Very lightly hazy golden-yellow hue with a frothy stark white head. Aromas of banana, pineapple, black pepper, cloves, banana nut bread, very light funk, lemon zest and peaches. The aroma is light overall and perhaps a bit too clean for my taste. Light to medium sweetness at first with a semi-bright acidity. Somewhat dank toward the middle. More pepper starts to come through in the flavour as it warms. Fairly light bodied, slick texture, prickling carbonation.

750 ml. brown Belgian style bottle. Corked & caged. No freshness date seen. Loud pop releases cork. Poured out a deep hazy orange color. Very carbonated. Huge head on this monster. Aromas are of spices, sweet malts, funky Belgian yeast, and earthy hops. Flavors are of spicy oranges, yeast, Belgian funk, sweet malts. Huge mouthfeel, thick & rich. Alcohol is well hidden in the flavors, but not when it hits you. Very good take on the style. I’m impressed from this being my first Lost Abbey beer.
