Very special nose, with spices, citrus and roasted pigskin, toasted malts, and an impression of white candi sugar. In the taste there’s no mistaking the Grains of Paradise flavour, as well as the orangepeel. Again toasted malts, cookies. And yes, Tomme, it does taste Dupont-like enough. With a dash of Van Steenberge, if I might add - did you add much white candi sugar? The pepper is traceable as well, but more in the MF. Medium bodied, slick, gristfilled, pretty dry. Ah. So the SPF 45 was also a Dupont lal? Well, I think this one comes closer. Good one, thanks. Doctormirk (100), USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2007 Pours a cloudy orange, with a thick lacey white head. Smells of spices, citrus, cinnamon, and a little nutmeg in their as well. Taste consists of many different spices, coriander, nutmeg, and some orange peel as well. Pretty refreshing. The aftertaste has some pretty big cinnamon characters. A tad bitter, but nothing offensive. Pretty good saison. wetherel (1641), Encinitas, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 7, 2007 Updated: May 11, 2007Doughy and corriander smell. Light and hazy unfiltered color. Easy to drink. A great great everyday beer, but probably a little expensive for everyday. Tried at Port Brewing company’s tasting room. It’s the corriander that throws people off at first, but I’ve learned to love corriander in beer, because it adds a crisp cleaness that makes it easy to drink.
Rerate: It’s not corriander, but orange peel and some other stuff. 8,4,8,4,18=4. ChristianSA (368), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Mar 29, 2007 Bottle from Pizza Port, Solana Beach. Hazy, dark yellow with meringue like head. Stunning looks. The aroma is quite funny. Bakers yeast, apples and a spice that I cannot name. Taking a sip.... Ah... there it was. Ginger! The flavor is peppery and spicy and finishes bittersweet like a tripel. Very smooth mouth feel. A very nice and solid beer, but I prefer my saisons drier and less spicy. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 27, 2007 Yet another thanks to Beerdrenched for another winner of a beer. Pours hazy orange / copper with a small, but sturdy, white head. The aroma has sharp grainy spice, anise, coriander and seltzer. Medium body and grainy mouthfeel that is crisp with light carbonation on the finish. The flavor starts out grainy and spicy (coriander and pepper) and mellow malt that is there seemingly just for balance. The finish has more sourness and spiciness - a bit stalky and grassy. A nice saison. Saarlander (1583), Rancho Cucamonga, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 26, 2007 A nice color, with an ok head. It has some spice to it, but its somewhat subdued, Some yeast, light grass, easy drinking, a good brew, but could be better, would have liked it abit more funky, still good though! drewbeerme (2306), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Mar 24, 2007 Updated: May 28, 20083/24/2007 , 750ml, from first batch, probably aged 8 months or so. pours clear orange-golden color with fluffy white head. nose really reminds me of SPF 45, lots of ginger, pretty funky, flowers, citrus, yeast, coriander, possibly some phenols, and butter. flavor has pepper and citrus notes, soft toffee, yeast, and buttery. it’s a tasty saison more on the flowery and buttery side than crisp and funky (which i prefer).3.7.
Jan2008, 750ml bottle, bottle approximately 1/07 or the end of 2006, making this bottle roughly a year old. cellar aged. pours hazy golden with creamy white head. aroma is very herbal, almost vitamins, lots of ginger and citrus. flavor is ginger, citrusy, earthy, dry, with a slight pepper towards the end. finishes very smooth and clean. very thirst quenching. I wouldn’t say this got better or worse but it seems to have mellowed a bit and nothing seems out of place or balance. really tasty saison and one of the best American ones.3.8.
