Commercial Description:
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

750 mL bottle from Liquor Mart in Boulder, CO (purchased October 2008). Pours golden yellowish-orange with a thick, creamy white head. Aroma of yeast, bread, and citrus. A slightly sour nose is present. Beautifully balanced flavor. A very nice saison.

Bottle... Poured golden with a thin white head. Highly spiced, very sweet aroma, like a Fall season dessert. Light and crisp palate -- very refreshing and easy to drink. Big yeasty notes and spiced grains, like salt and pepper, with herb or vegetable-like squash characters.

Nce nose - just a little spice, tart, some fruit. Tastes initially light spicy wit-like, then a nice tart peppery-flavor with some hops and a hint of hay. Finishes surprisingly hot, helped by the lack of carbonation (in my short RB career - this seems to be an LA tademark) and overall mouthfeel just isn’t that great. Good, not great.

750ML 2008 Bottle-trade w/hillbilly-Hazy yellow/orange pour w/a moderate white head. Dry spiced aroma. Thick, chewy flavor of ginger, citrus, light fruit, white pepper, honey & bread dough. Had some sweet malt/molasses in the background to balance this out. Very smooth & easy to drink, kind of wheat like, but not overly so. Another good beer from these folks, Thanks Joshua!!!

Bottle from TexasJeep at the Houston sour tasting. Thanks, man! Pours a deep, thick cheddar orange with a nice white head. Aroma is bready orange biscuit. Flavor is syrupy molasses bread with a hint of sharp cheddar. Thick mouthfeel. Pretty good.

750 mL bottle. Pours slightly hazy golden yellow with small, dense whitish head. The aroma is light spice (coriander, pepper, mint), green apple, some sweet honey notes, a bit of citrus, and a distant cellar must. The flavor is a little stronger on the spice end. The ginger is pretty obvious, with detectable orange and pepper. A dry earthiness underlies the spices, with a sort of faint tropical fruitiness in the background. The finish is a bit dry with another gingery spice kick that lasts for quite some time into the aftertaste. Pretty good, and definitely refreshing, but in my opinion the spices are quite overdone.

On tap at Nørrebro Bryghus. Pouring hazy yellow with a foamy white head. The aroma is fresh and fruity - citrus, spicy mainly coriander and pepper. Flavour is citrus, peach, coriander, pepper and other spices. Almost harsh aftertaste but bitter. Very special!

Bottle. This beer did not live up to expectations. Was expecting a beer similar to Saison Dupont. Beer was refreshing and smooth but the flavor wasn’t up to par.
