Commercial Description:
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

Bottle from TexasJeep at the Houston sour tasting. Thanks, man! Pours a deep, thick cheddar orange with a nice white head. Aroma is bready orange biscuit. Flavor is syrupy molasses bread with a hint of sharp cheddar. Thick mouthfeel. Pretty good.

750 mL bottle. Pours slightly hazy golden yellow with small, dense whitish head. The aroma is light spice (coriander, pepper, mint), green apple, some sweet honey notes, a bit of citrus, and a distant cellar must. The flavor is a little stronger on the spice end. The ginger is pretty obvious, with detectable orange and pepper. A dry earthiness underlies the spices, with a sort of faint tropical fruitiness in the background. The finish is a bit dry with another gingery spice kick that lasts for quite some time into the aftertaste. Pretty good, and definitely refreshing, but in my opinion the spices are quite overdone.

On tap at Nørrebro Bryghus. Pouring hazy yellow with a foamy white head. The aroma is fresh and fruity - citrus, spicy mainly coriander and pepper. Flavour is citrus, peach, coriander, pepper and other spices. Almost harsh aftertaste but bitter. Very special!

Bottle. This beer did not live up to expectations. Was expecting a beer similar to Saison Dupont. Beer was refreshing and smooth but the flavor wasn’t up to par.

On tap at the brewery in San Marcos. Pours a clear, pale golden body with a thick, dense and foamy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is thick wheat malts. Bready, earthy, and orange citrus. Smooth and soft yeast as well as a noticeable ginger. Flavor is chewy wheat malts and slightly bitter orange. Some honey and sweet fruits as well as some floral spices. Lingers with lots of sweet malts and a soft yeast spice along with some coriander and ginger. Palate is full and chewy with a slow, drying finish. Overall, a pretty solid saison. Nothing too exciting, but well put together and enjoyeable.

Bottle, with Alaskanwarren. Slightly cloudy pale gold, billowy milk-white head. Cardamom, coriander, mint aroma. Chewy oaty sweetness, coriander/citrus spice, lingering resin. A bit over-spiced for my preference, but still a pleasant beer.

Bottle (75 cl) from Ölbutikken. Shady golden, large rocky off-white head. Clear spicy aroma, could pick the ginger, with a yeasty and fruity malt backbone. A bit moussy mouthfeel. Fairly dry, low to moderate bitterness. Spiced beers aren’t my thing.
