Commercial Description:
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

Bottle courtesy of zythum. This pours a golden-orange color with a big fluffy off-white head with some excellent staying power. The aroma is banana, some cloves, fragrant yeast, and peppers. Flavors picked up are melons, banana, some barnyard funk but nothing crazy, spices and hay. What a great drink. Everything works with this and nothing at all seems out place. Very tasty, very drinkable, well-rounded, suitable for many occasions, a winner in my book! Thanks Ron!

Pours murky honey gold with a nice creamy white head that leaves bits of lacing. Aroma is dusty floral notes, citrus, basement, musty straw, decent spice notes and some citrus. Flavor is sweetness, dust, grass, lots of peppery spice, ginger and sweet bread spice, bitter greens, sweet floral notes - almost like honeysuckle nectar, finish is spicy, sweet and herbal. Palate is medium thin with a nice fluffy veil of carbonation that has just ehough bite to it and has a nice slightly dry finish. Overall this is a highly enjoyable beer that is to me a very good mellow brew.

Bottle. Nice yellow golden with a big, steady white head; Classic Belgian style! The aroma is packed with the scent of a wheat bread that has just come out of the oven. Add then some orange notes, some spicy coriander notes and some very faint ginger and there you are. I really like that the spices are not overdone. They don’t take precedence but are only there as a part of a very complex aroma profile. On the palate the beer is highly carbonated, true to style, and finishes bone dry, which is also the way it should be. A very very classy brew!

On tap at Stone bistro. Pours a slightly hazy golden hue with nice lacing. Nose is heavy with spices--coriander, clove, grains of paradise. Flavor is more spices, wheat, slight hops and citrus. Mouthfeel is light and easy to drink. Alcohol not detected. A nice summer brew.

Pours a straw-yellow into the glass with a big white head. Aroma is grassy, spicy, with some citrus zest. Flavor is malty with a sour finish. Medium in body and smooth across the tongue.
