Commercial Description:
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

Bottled. An unclear orange beer with a lazing orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with a dusty barnyard note. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of fruit - especially peaces, combined with notes of spices, leading to a dry spicy end.

(Bottle 75 cl) Very unclear yellowish golden with an off-white head. Aroma of yeast and spices - chamomile? Medium body, starts with some malt sweetness which is quickly relieved by a dry, somewhat chemical bitterness with some phenols. Spicy flavours - perhaps a whiff of ginger. Very bitter finish. I’m not sure I understand the hype surrounding Saisons. Courtesy of sk8viking. 080307

75 cL bottle. Pours hazy to murky orange with a creamy white head. Orange fruity, mild citric and smooth yeasty aroma. Dry hoppy and spiced in the initial flavour. Mild dry brett presence following a long a mild yeasty mellow flavour ad light caramel base. Rather dry. Good brew that goes great with pasta.

Bottled. Golden colour with mediiumnsized head. Aroma is fruits, some spices and mild earthy notes. Flavour is quite much the same. Earthy, spicy and some mild yeastyness. A bit thin for a "real" saison

Appearance: clear dark yellow,
Aroma: sweet malt aroma with a nice fruity quality and light musty quality,
Body: creamy body,
Flavor: lots of spicy flavor with a musty bitterness, nice light fruity character adds a touch of balancing sweetness before being replaced with a bready yeast character, light lemony tartness combined with a black pepper bite like a lemon pepper flavoring, nice lingering spicy finish, adding some yeast kicks the citrus character up a notch and mellows the spicyness except for the black pepper that continues to be assertive

continues to be mellow and musty, the bready character provides such a nice base, pepery character is less assertive and more in balance, more sweetness coming through to support the bready character,
