Commercial Description:
This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of SPF 45, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach

Light and tasty, nice mild sweetness. Spiciness is subtle ginger, black pepper and hoppiness. Spice makes this one happen. a little sourness, a tiny bit of earthiness

Bottled. Golden colour with mediiumnsized head. Aroma is fruits, some spices and mild earthy notes. Flavour is quite much the same. Earthy, spicy and some mild yeastyness. A bit thin for a "real" saison

Slightly hazy golden-orange color, small steady white head. White peppery, yeasty, slightly fruity aroma. Spicey, sweet fruity flavor: cinnamon, white pepper, clove ... some yeast and alcohol. Long spicey bitter aftertaste.

Corked bottle. Blonde, pours a huge head that lasts. Malt, citrus, vanilla and coreander in the aroma. Malty sweetish, grassy and citric hopbitter flavor with anis and coreander. Just a bit more than medium bodied. Grassy spicy hopbitter aftertaste.

pours a slightly cloudy golden with a nice white head. Aroma of bread dough and yeast, some fruit, a little spice, but not as much as some saisons. Flavor is a little soft, not bad, just not quite as spicy or peppery as many, leans more toward citrus fruit, lemon and grapefruit, a little tartness. Very enjoyable though, made even better by The Ohio State University Buckeye’s victory over that team from up north.

27th August 2008. Smooth, soft and silky. Lovely fruity notes and no harsh spices. Spices come through on the finish. A very deft and superior example.
