Not a huge fan of sours yet, but this was definitely really good for that type. With a dark red tinted color and no head. Pungent sour cherry smell with vinegar notes. Very sour taste similar to salt and vinegar chips. Very good for a sour though. radiomgb (1993), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Mar 29, 2009 Orange-brown in colour with a long lasting off-white head, excellent lacing. The aroma is acidic, sharp, some old cheese, lots of sourness, citrus and some wood. The flavour is quite mellow, some malt starts to come through, sour cherries, light lemon citrus, oak. Lightly acidic mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes long, fruity and sour.
This is like a very mellow cherry lambic. Fantastic stuff. The drinkability is through the roof. I need more.
375ml bottle obtained in a trade with TheEpeeist, thanks Chris.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | Mar 25, 2009 Bottle thanks to Sparky27. Thanks! 2009 bottle pours very dark red with a whisp of a head that disappears immediately. Aroma is sour cherry, oak, and some funk. This is probably the first brew of this type where I can actually detect cherry aroma and not just straight acid or funk. Very nice. Palate is medium thin with just a little bit of carbonation. Flavor is mouth puckering, sour, sour cherry, oak, acid, funky, and all around nice. The only knock on this brew is the palate and the low levels of carbonation for the style. That’s where my palate rating comes in and the overall as well. If it wasn’t flat this would be a world class brew. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Mar 25, 2009 375ml bottles I brought to the Chunk and Patriots Throwdown. Pours a burnt orange, almost brown. Reddish hints. Nice looking beer. Nose has tons of real cherry, huge tart acidity and some horseblanket. Flavor is quite sour and tart, real nice cherry jam finish. The carbonation is a bit to strong and due to the low abv it hurst the mouthfeel and body a little but this is still a very very nice sour, I dunno if its worth the 20+ dollars a bottle though. Aroma is funky and tart, some cherries. Flavor is very nice, funk, sour cherries. Mouth feel is medium body with fizzy carbonation.....Very good! trevor211 (504), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 23, 2009 375ml bottle - first installment from the 09 sinners club. Pours a reddish brown with no head - at least at first. A center pour from 12 inches resulted in zero, but after (literally) about 10 seconds, a wave of very tiny bubbles started to rise to the top. Formed a dense, but still thin layer of foam on top. Weird, weird pour. Cranberries, cherries, unripe blackberries and some light brown sugar in the aroma. Definitely give this one time to warm up a bit - the flavors really come out of hibernation. Almost completely flat - extremely little carbonation - which is very weird, given how effervescent I’m used to sours being. Only if you hold it in your mouth does the tartness really show - otherwise it’s pretty faint. Cherry certainly comes out in the flavor, as well as the oak from the barrels, making it a little musty / funky. It’s certainly good, and the bottle is beautiful... but I’m a little disappointed with this one. We’ll see what a bit of age does with the other bottle. durhambeer (1215), Durham, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 23, 2009 Bottle thanks to rallison. Thanks, buddy! Pours reddish brown with small ring of off-white head. Tart but mild cherry nose with some musty wood. Well balanced and not overly acetic. More tannic than expected, but that’s mostly a good thing. Some raisin notes. Interesting take on an Oude Brune. Tasty, easy to drink, and gone too soon.
