thedm (3405), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Mar 21, 2008 This corked and caged bottled brew from patrick767 at a rating party poured a medium sized head of congealed foam made up of fine to medium sized bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a hazy murky muddy river brown colored body and a poor lacing. The funky aroma was lambic like with farmhouse and funky notes. The dry sour mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of spices sourness and was very lambic like. A horrible one that I would rather not drink again.
DA (2376), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Aug 18, 2008 RBSG 2008. So we just had the Sinners Blend and I was blown away and yet this just repeated my amazement. Pours red/mahogany, tan head. Tart cherry nose and acidic. Lots of earthy wood come through with a nice sourness in the end. illinismitty (1397), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 12, 2008 Bottle at RBSG tasting at the brewery. Pours muddy reddish amber with no head. Aroma of malt, funk, and cherry. Flavor of doughy caramel malt with an accent of cherry and plums. Moderate tartness and not overly acetic on the finish. This is a good beer, but I had much higher expectations on this one. jake65 (1216), Meridian, Idaho, USA Aug 9, 2008 Bottle: Muddy brown with a big beige head. Aroma is intense with fruity sweet and sours, woodiness, and cherry tart. The impact from the tartness on my tongue is incredible, but it remains smooth and quaffable. Barrel aged notes are soft as well. Fruity sweetness and tart comes through in the end. Still amazing how smooth the transition is. Thanks Seth! nolankowal (826), Dublin, Ohio, USA Aug 7, 2008 Bottle. Dirty, dark-orange pour with a light tan head. Aroma of oak, musty caramel malt, and cinnamon. Flavors of sour, vinous fruits, oak, apple skin, and light sweet malts. Light body, sour/tart/woody with a sour/dry finish. illidurit (387), Santa Cruz, California, USA Aug 5, 2008 On tap at Lost Abbey for RBSG. Pours a rusty red-brown with no head. Tons of sediment. Aroma is dead-on apple pie, with an acetic sourness. Flavor is a balance between sweet and sour. Tastes like a caramel covered crab apple. Also some cherry notes in the tartness. Sharp with a mostly dry finish. Undercarbonated, but who cares? Delicious.
