| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 12, 2009 Wow, this is a good one. Had this at a beer tasting thanks to...well, me. I know, I’m the man. Got the bottle at City Beer in SF. Black, thick pour with a two-finger tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor is sweet roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, smoke, slight dark fruits, and alcohol on the finish. Incredibly tasty. Really full and satisfying mouthfeel. The highlight of the evening. robertjm (403), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 11, 2009 Pours a nice dark chocolate colored foamy head. Dark as sin brown body with fair amount of carbonation clinging to the glass. Aroma has hints of chocolate and other malts. Ain’t no hops in that bouquet!! The flavor? Now I know how Eve felt when tempted by that damn snake. Flavors explode in the mouth. Lots of sugary goodness with an alcohol chaser following quickly behind. Body is full enough to support the 11% alc, but not too thick to make it a chore to drink. Smal amount of bitterness lingering on the tongue in the aftertaste. Not enough to be a distraction. Yet another winner I’ve tasted from Lost Abbey. joeneugs (320), Livermore, California, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Mar 8, 2009 First of all, this is one of the thickest bodied beers I’ve ever tasted. Its like used motor oil. I thought I was going to have to tap the bottle ketchup style to get it all out. Very black and dense to say the least. Nice dark brown head that setlles down to a small but creamy layer. The aroma is complex, alcohol, chocolate, coffee, fruitcake, rum. It has moderate carbonation. Very sweet flavor like chocolate, coffee, and rumcake. The sweetness is the first thing you taste on the tip of your tongue with a salty bitterness in the finish. There is a nice roasted smokey aftertaste. This is a very classic and powerful imperial stout. VikingHammer (363), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA
