Commercial Description:
The history of the bible and religion is indeed the struggle of good vs. evil. Our Serpent’s Stout recognizes the evil of the dark side that we all struggle with. This is a massively thick and opaque beer that begs the saints to join the sinners in their path to a black existence.

Courtesy of After4ever, thanks Tom! It is pitch black and the head is dark brown, huge and creamy. The aroma has sweetness, notes of chocolate, licorice and light dark fruits. The flavour has sweetness and notes of chocolate, licorice, dark fruits and warming alcohol in the finish, where I also find a light grapefruit bitterness. It is smooth and pleasant, but the sweetness makes it ideal as an after dinner stout, otherwise it is too sweet IMO.

Bottle Pours out a black topped with a brown head. Aroma of rick dark roast and chocolate. Tast was more of the nice roast and plenty sweet chocolate. A nice coffee and thick cream.

Richly dark, mocha on the edges. Frothy sandy head reduced to a ring quickly. Burst of black malt up front with a twang, full bodied roast spectrum follows. Oily, silky, chocolate, charred oak? Weighted, balanced, great straight away. Breakfast blend coffee finish.

Fresh 2009 Bottle enjoyed 2/12/09. Pours a thinner but still creamy and opaque near black with a very fine small fizzy tan head. Big grassy chocolaty roasted malt aroma, touch of licorice and coffee. First taste is dark bitter chocolate, next comes some Belgian yeasty fruitiness with grassy hops and light coffee underneath. Vanilla and bitter dark chocolate finish which is slightly boozy. Definitely tastes like a blend between a big American IS and a foreign stout. Full bodied, creamy, silky/oily, with abundant fine fizzy carbonation, leaves sugary chocolatey residue on the lips. Rich, soft and decadent but still quite drinkable. Its already pretty soft as is, but might need a little aging to really tie-together.

750 ml bottle shared with pineypower and his bro Dave, thanks Dean. Pours with a deep dark brown body and a huge mocha colored head. Aroma is very roasty with notes of chocolate, vanilla, slight wood, and lots of sweetness. Body is great with a very well hidden 11% ABV, general smoothness and average carbonation. Flavor has lots of sweetness up front yet roasty chocolate, vanilla and dark fruit blend together in a nice ballet to dance around your mouth. Very solid and Im very glad Dean brought this over since I mistakenly passed it up at Capones.

Pours black, with a dark mocha head. Impressively dark. Chocolate dominates the aroma and flavor, with a good balance of coffee and molasses backing it up. Slightly boozy, which makes it a bit thin. Great mouthfeel - crisp carbonation, which is very refreshing for an impy stout. Very good, and a nice change of pace from most of LA’s brews.

Black as black can be with a decent sized head. Aroma is of coffee, espresso, cocoa, and dark chocolate. Taste is like a mocha espresso with dark chocolate cake. Delicious.

Deep black. Overwhelmingly sweet and heavy, but at the same time very tasty. This beer is like a dessert. The opposite of a guzzlin’ beer.
