Commercial Description:
The history of the bible and religion is indeed the struggle of good vs. evil. Our Serpent’s Stout recognizes the evil of the dark side that we all struggle with. This is a massively thick and opaque beer that begs the saints to join the sinners in their path to a black existence.

750ml first bottling. Pour is matte black with a head of swirling dark tan cream and lace. Aroma is rich dark chocolate and a touch of alcohol. Delicious chewy chocolate flavor without much alcohol presence. Great chewy body that coats the mouth and throat on the way down. Nice.

Pours a very dark brown in color with a nice inch of mocha colored head. Plenty of chocolate or cocoa flavors in the smell. Very creamy and velvety smooth in the mouthfeel. Plenty of cocoa and slight coffee in the flavor. This is lacking just a bit for me. Port/Lost Abbey is my favorite brewery, but I didn’t enjoy this as much as I thought I would.

Courtesy JMFG. Pours a really dark chocolate mahogany color, virtually black in dim light. A foamy, dark, mocha colored head shows decent retention, leaving small, jagged flares and random spots of lacing on the glass. The aroma is really fudgy and chocolaty, notes of burnt caramel malts, roasty espresso, and smoothing vanilla providing perfectly complementary depth. Stewed dark fruits lurk somewhere within as well. The flavor follows suit, massively chocolaty and decadent, with plenty of dark roast, vanilla, and earthy hop character. Fruitiness continues to develop and emerge over time. A silky smooth, substantial palate finishes just a hair on the syrupy side. Great beer, overall.

Courtesy JMFG. Very dark, with a brown head. Tannic, somewhat acrid nose, very roasty. Big tannic sweet malts and a roasty bitter finish. There seems to be a lingering caramel sweetness. Almost a syrupy mouthfeel.

Bottle. Thanks EDA. Shared with Chuck at party. Deep dark black in color with a nice fluffy off white head. Chocolatety roasty fruity aroma. Dark fruity notes. Caramel chocolatey malty flavor. Fig, raisin and plum notes. Sweet tasting. Full bodied. Well balanced. Very drinkable. Nice.

750ml Caged/Corked This is my 1300th review, and many more to come. Poured into a tulip a very nice dark black color, awesome carbonation, huge two-finger plus creamy dark tan head, which leaves tons of nice thick sticky lacing. The nose is malty, with some figs/raisins/plums, nice tones of toffee/chocolate, nice touch or caramel. The taste is awesome, slightly sweet, malty, nice touch of dark fruits, very nice tones of toffee/chocolate, with a nice added benefit of caramel. Full body, this brew is tasty to say the least, smooth, chewy/creamy, the alcohol is hidden very well. Very drinkable, and highly recommended. Thanks Andrew!

750ml bottle. Cork pops off loudly. Pours a very dark black with a rusty brownish red colored huge foamy head that never leaves and coats the entire top of the beer. Aroma is chocolate cake, cocoa, brownies, baker’s chocolate, chocolate frosting and vanilla frosting. Pretty much anything having to do with a chocolate cake. Taste shows dark chocolate, coffee, bitterness with a creamy mouthfeel. The beer is overcarbonated, hurting its mouthfeel and drinkability. This has a nice flavor I just wish it were less carbonated.

Bottle from Sun Devil in Mesa, AZ. I only bought one. Damn. Double damn. Truly opaque brown/black color with a large dark tan head. Aromas of coffee, treacle and really dark malt. Full bodied with foamy carbonation. There’s heat. There’s coffee. There’s a hint of treacle. As time goes on there is burnt malt bitter. Not getting chocolate. Extremely tasty. Hints of lighter fruits come and go. There’s a bitter component that could be dark chocolate. Drink this and die. Note: Marcus and I put our numbers down independently, so there was no collusion!
