There is a very rich roasted malt and coffee flavor with a bitter chocolate finish, followed by an alcohol haze. djtimeless (170), Florida, USA

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 8, 2008 22oz bottle from Solan’s Mom Throwdown. Blackish brown pour with a chocolatey head. Smokey wood notes in the nose with some coffee, bourbon and chocolate. Very low carbonation and a thick powerful palate. Considering the ABV this is very very well hidden. Tons of caramel and chocolate and a bit of roasty espresso, a slight touch of fruity tartness in the finish that makes this a very unique impy stout. Lingering smoke. This is really great, one of my favorite imperial stouts. KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 6, 2008 Via trade with Emacgee. Pours completely opaque back in color with a brown head. Aroma of strong roasted malt, coffee, and alot of dark fruit, some alcohol. Taste is roasty, strong dry chocolate, dark fruit, molasses, caramel, and definite perceivable alcohol. Relatively full bodied with somewhat light carbonation, in line with the style. Finishes with lingering roasty bitterness and a moderate touch of dark fruit. Very nice. Thanks Ethan! mansquito (827), Boston/Philadelphia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Rather dark brown head and it has a totally black body. Chocolate, roasted malts, molasses and a precognition of bitterness appear in the aroma. Bitter dark chocolate taste. The beer feels rather astringent. But it is thick and really creamy and loaded with malts. It has a sweet finish and a really pleasant roasted aftertaste (unlike some imperial stouts which kind of make me cringe in this regard). The alcohol is covered up by the panoply of flavor. It is surprisingly well-balanced and for an imperial stout this is amongst the most drinkable that I have ever had. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 2, 2008 From a 750mL Bottle. Pitch black, opaque obsidian colored pour with a two finger head of large bubbled, fizzy dark tan. Aromas of chocolate, roast, and molasses malt characters along with a moderately strong, pithy hop note. Alcohol presence is clear, but not overly harsh. A more subtle, charred raisin bread chewiness adds some depth to an intensely roasty malt character. Medium bodied, moderately high carbonation level with a somewhat chalky texture. Over-carbonated for an imperial stout, but not to the point of interfering with the flavors; it just kind of sizzles off the tongue where you expect it to coat and linger. Lots of roast characters, mainly dark chocolate, along with burned toast, tobacco, and prune. Very roasty, lightly fruity, and moderately alcoholic. Some hop bitterness lingers faintly in the finish. It’s good. rederic (1811), montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 2, 2008 Pitch deep black color, with a nice tan-colored head, with a vanilla, bourbon, oaky nose, with some dark chocolatey espresso coffee accents, with a sweet black chocolate, roasted malt note, with a faint blackberry fruitiness, in the aroma follows through on a full-bodied palate with a sweet chocolatey, mochaish, warmth character, with an espresso, vanilla, bourbonish oaky warmth mouthfeel, with a milkyish, black coffee, dark bitter chocolate pralines, with some black chocolate roasty malt flavors, leading towards a sweet, black chocolatey, warming finish.
