Nice looking. Lacing. Aroma of coffee, cocoa, oats, chalk and the faintest hints of caramel and vanilla. Easy drinking, in a good way. Very smooth flavor; cocoa, roasted malt, molasses and vanilla. Nice finish; full bodied. Really good stuff here. jimhilt (1676), Bow, New Hampshire, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 14, 2008 Bottle (also tasted tonight were Great Lakes Stout, Hoppin Frog black & tan and Green Flash Stout) - Pours black with medium tan head with good retention. Aroma is rosted malts and espresso, with some hints of sweetness. Mild alcohol notes. Flavor wasn’t as big as I was thinking it would be. Definitely roasted and coffee like - maybe some subtle dried dark fruits. Good balance of flavors for a big stout, but I liked the Great Lakes one a bit better. riversideAK (2723), Shoreline, Washington, USA
