Commercial Description:
The history of the bible and religion is indeed the struggle of good vs. evil. Our Serpent’s Stout recognizes the evil of the dark side that we all struggle with. This is a massively thick and opaque beer that begs the saints to join the sinners in their path to a black existence.

Pours a dark black body with a medium brown head and nice lacing. Aroma is lightly sweet with black berry, light chocolate, yeast and cherry. Flavor is sweet chocolate, coffee and just a hint of alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture. Finishes sweet with a slight alcohol burn.

[1389-20080524] 1pt9.4floz bottle. Potato grainy roasted malt aroma has a lingering heavy yeast. Dark black brown body with a medium-lasting foamy dark tan red head. Boozy dark Belgian style roasted coffee malt flavour. Full body is tangy. Tasty.

A viscous pour delivers a small tan head, retention is good, lace is minimal. Basically black but with some brown edging. Lots of caramel aroma with well blended notes of wood, coffee and hints of whiskey. Body is full, slick on the palate, creamy and oily with a soft carbonation. Lotsa Impy. Stout goodness in the form of caramel, coffee, dark chocolate, roast, dark fruits and berrys. Lots happening. Not overly complex but it definately keeps yer attention. Lightly sweet, roasty, fruity finish. Nice. Cheers to SDbruboy for the bottle, thanks Cliff!

Bottle. Aroma big sweet coffee, sweet fruits, sweet chocolate, and of course the sweet alcohol making me type sweet a lot. Flavor heavily but not harshly roasted malt, bitter coffee finish. At first felt oddly thin in the mouth for me, probably the alcohol playing a big role, but a few sips in it became quite creamy and smooth. No one particular trait that puts it over the top, but a great combination of its parts.

Blackish pour with a nice beige head. Aroma is creamy and chocolatey with some Belgian malt/yeast detectable. Flavor is creamy, chocolatey, and a bit roasty - totally delicious. Silky, smooth, and wonderful all around with a mouthfeel that is superb. Just the right amount of carbonation for the flavor. No hint of the 11%ABV either. Another Lost Abbey winner.

Bottle. Pours black with a huge, HUGE dark tan head, so pretty!! Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, milk and bitter chocolate. Flavor of heavily roasted, sweet malt, roasted nuts, bitter chocolate. Very smooth palate and really drinkable. I was expecting more richness from an imperial stout, but this tastes more like a strong regular stout to me. Very smooth, wow I did not get the 11%. Interesting, very good, but not quite worthy of its 4.03 average...
