Commercial Description:
The history of the bible and religion is indeed the struggle of good vs. evil. Our Serpent’s Stout recognizes the evil of the dark side that we all struggle with. This is a massively thick and opaque beer that begs the saints to join the sinners in their path to a black existence.

750 ml corked and caged bottle poured an opaque black with a large lasting brown head. Aromas of bitter chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a smooth finish. Flavors of dark chocolate, vanilla, roastiness and light fruittiness with a smooth warming semi sweet finish.

2008-05-31. Only took rough notes on this second sample, but the flavour has much more rich maltyness throughout that I recall. Just overall bigger and richer and more lovely. Wow! 8/5/8/4/18 - 4.3 Bottle, Post-Mondial Tasting, Montreal <P>2005-05-24. Black body with a nice foamy tan head (4+). Roasty aroma, underlying malt. (7+) Similar roast dominates the flavour, mild milk chocolate notes, light lingering bitterness in the finish. (7+) Smooth average to medium palate. Not bad! 7/4/7/4/16 - 3.8 Bottle shared by Biegaman

Bottle from Capones, sampled with Stegosaurus. Damn this was good. Nice black pour with roasted, coffee, chocolate aromas. Nothing show stoppingly different but a good blend and a good punch. I quite enjoyed it. Ask Stegosaurus what we did with the cork and the caps form the troegs bottles....

A very interesting offering from a great brewery. of course, the beer does not disappoint.. The aroma is decent, having some roast and sweet malts leaving a bit of a fruity and molasses hint. The feel of this beer is almost equal to Dark Horizon, very smooth and silky, absolutely wonderful. The flavour is chocolaty and sweet with molasses and some burnt malts. Overall a pretty average stout with a great mouthfeel. Quite enjoyable but doesn’t quit have enough.

Bottle (750ml corked & caged). At 2nd Annual Summer Saison Tasting - beigaman’s bottle. Thanks for sharing this one, Jan!!! Murky opaque brown/black pour with a solid lasting light brown head (4+). Creamy and smooth aroma, deep roast malt overlaid with molasses and mild herbal funkiness - somewhat mysterious. The taste - very dry and very creamy, strong alcohol yes, but appropriately so, in addition to slightly tart huge overroast caramel malt there were some nice mint and herb flavours - complex and very very good. Seriously thick body, silky going down, not much carbonation but that was just right - had a long near-burnt complex roasty finish with a complex herbal hop dance rounding out the linger. Top drawer (maybe this one was the highlight of the tasting ... hard to call)

Bottle: pours a dark, rich black with a thick tan head. Aroma of delicious chocolate malts, dark fruit. Flavor is robust, with roasted chocolate malts, some coffee, and a mild undertone of raisin or plum. Very full mouthfeel; warm, dry finish.

Bottle shared by Ethan and Aubrey at the CC gathering. Thanks! Pours black with a tan head. Nose is milk, cocoa, roasted malts, some smoke, some over-ripe fruits. Flavor has more lactose (very milk stout like), with some roasted malts, cocoa, and a little bitterness in the finish. Good, but for me, not great.

Got this from South Bay. Was kind of on the edge about it because of some of the reviews but I ended up really enjoying it. Pours a nice dark viscous brew. Allows some light through in the pour but sits black in the glass. The head is a dark tan. Very pungent nose, very fruity, sweet, light alcohol, coffee, chocolate, plum. The flavor is similar, very fruity, sweet, light alcohol, roasty, coffee, citrusy. Very smooth and full mouthfeel with a roasted coffee finish. I was pleasantly surprised by this one.
