Commercial Description:
The history of the bible and religion is indeed the struggle of good vs. evil. Our Serpent’s Stout recognizes the evil of the dark side that we all struggle with. This is a massively thick and opaque beer that begs the saints to join the sinners in their path to a black existence.

This is possibly the thickest beer I have ever had. Thick black pour. Strong flavor of roasted malts but balanced with a little bitterness and dark fruit flavor. Very good.

I believe I scored this bottle via Secret Santa. Thank you Saint Nick! 750ml corked and caged bottle pours a fairly viscous but completely opaque with a lacing, tan head that had plenty of tight bubbles. Aroma heavy on the chocolate, coffee, nuts, raisns, cherries, toasted grains, bread. Flavor is very nice, lots of toast and coffee, nuts, dark chocolate. The flavor also shows off some dark pitted fruits and an earthiness that compliments everything well. Overall mouthfeel is nice, slightly thick, mellow with some lingering sweetness, a little lingering bitterness from the toasted grains with only a faint heat in the throat at the very very end. Overall, very well balanced, and very drinkable for a beer that’s 11% ABV. Dare I say, it lacks the one unique aspect that separates the great Imperial Stouts from the good ones. This is a very good one.

Dark mahogany with modest, creamy brown head / Nose of dark fruit, semisweet chocolate, roast barley, / Medium to full body, somewhat acidic and chewy, with good balance tending towards hoppiness, especially on the good, dry finish / Flavors of tobacco, dark roast coffee, bittersweet chocolate, plums, and vanilla / Very good, very dry stout.

750 ml bottle from Binny’s (Orland Park, IL) shared with some friends. Pours a nice pitchblack opaque pour, a decent dark brown head that dies to a film and laces somewhat. Aromas are a nice chocolate, sweet and dark meet, a creamy sweetness meet a good dark roasty malts, coffee, light bitterness mixes with a good roasty feel, faint soy sauce. Initial is a thick syrupy body, a good roasty and chocolate appeal, some bitter and sweet chocolate mix with a deeper toasted roasted maltiness. Light bitterness, solid dose of burnt and bitter coffee. A thick beer on the palate, sticks well. Faint soy, good overall Imperial Stout

Bottle. Poured a dark brown almost black with a thick tan head. Thick palate with tastes of chocolate and roasted malts. Another excellent brew from Lost Abbey.

Bottled. The aroma has chocolate, some coffee, dark fruits. Pitch black coloured beer with a brown head. The taste is sweet, bitter and has chocolate, coffee and some fruity tones. It is quite creamy, full bodied and overwhelming enjoyable. :-)

Dark chocolate, coffee nose. Big, thick mouth, coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruit, dark cherries. Big flavors all around, but not overly complex. Lingering dark chocolate finish. Well made, but just can’t get to the upper crust of Impys.
