Commercial Description:
The history of the bible and religion is indeed the struggle of good vs. evil. Our Serpent’s Stout recognizes the evil of the dark side that we all struggle with. This is a massively thick and opaque beer that begs the saints to join the sinners in their path to a black existence.

Bottle. Black pour with small dark brown head that lasts. Nice beer, but considering the hefty price tag of this bottle, the beer inside should be better. Nice roasted malt flavor with well hidden alcohol. Perhaps the flavor would mature into a better brew.

bottle poured a black in color with a nice fluffy tan head that laced the glass well. aroma has dark chocolate malt, caramel, and a hefty hit of alcohol at the end. mouth feel is smooth but it coats well. flavor has rich malts, dark chocolate, mellow roast, and a warming smack of alcohol. nice and chewy but it remains smooth.

Bottle. Pours black with a nice big and dense cappuccino coloured head. Aromas of tobacco, dark chocolate, roasted malt, toffee and some ashy smokieness. Super oily texture. Flavours of licorice, coffee, warming alcohol, chocolate, caramel and slightly vinegar-ish. Super rich and super well made. Great brew.

Appearance is black with a thin dark brown head. Aroma consists dominantly of chocolate. I was also able to pick out caramel, soy and a nostril clearing alcohol scent in the aroma. Flavor consists of malty chocolate and alcohol wih a little soy sauce. Palate is interesting due to the alcohol burn and very slight astringency.

nose of bitter unsweetened chocolate. smells like a double boiler chock full of valrhona slowly softening to a ganache, it nearly fills the room. appearance is standard opaque but with a wonderfully hued head, thin but clearly tinged with the same essence of cocoa found in the aroma. it quickly disappears to a stagnant lake of impy. flavor is far from sweet, certainly dry and certainly doesn’t shy away from the booze that makes this bottle work. very bitter again, balancing things out well and then some.

Medium brown head. Dark brown body barely translucent at edges. Alcoholic fruity minty aroma with roasty notes. Dry-sweetish salty licorice and roasty tar taste. Round and smooth mouthfeel with alcohol heat. Dry-acidic minty burnt wood and oak aftertaste. Excellent! (Oslo beer junta tasting.)

Average, quick fading dark brown head. Aroma was chocolate, booze(whiskey), caramel, malty, dark fruit. Appearance was pitch black. Taste was about the same as aroma only the booze was a little more hidden, a little coffee and a bit smokey. Medium to thin body for an Imperial Stout I thought which was nice as I was drinking it on a hot day. May not have been the most complex but I’m a sucker for Imperial Stouts as well as Lost Abbey.

Mmmm. My first beer in CA. And what a one! Mmmm, dark beer. Nice malts are everywhere in the thick heavy syrupy body and they’re roasted to full blackness. Lots of alcohol, tons of alcohol and the body is warm and brutal but covered in a smooth nest of creamy malts. Great beer.
