Thanks to whomever brought this to Backus’s Backdoor Bash! Poured a cloudy brown with virtually no head. I got a lot of oak, burbon and some light chocolate flavors. The sourness was subdued but added to the overall balance of strong flavors with a light bit of sour. Overall a great beer and one of my favorites from the day.

From a 375mL Bottle. Somewhat transparent, coconut shell brown color with some light ruddy hues and a creamy finger of tan head. Aromas of cherries, leather, black pepper, and chocolate. Some pleasant grape-skin brett gives the bouquet a gentle tartness. A pleasant oaky dryness compliments the sweetness from the cherries nicely. As it warms, a lightly roasted, coffee scented maltiness starts to shine through. Medium bodied, softly carbonated mouthfeel with a moderately high acidity. Quite a bit of lactic acid up front on the palate, along with some dry grapeskin brett. Woody, stringy, oaky spice comes through mid-palate. Some mild chocolate and faint roast malt characters peek through in the finish. Very tart, oaky, and bretty; all good things, but they overwhelm the malt and fruit a bit much.

Dark ruby color with a fairly long lasting, white creamy head. Really complex nose, with wood complexity and a variety of juicy vinous-like notes. Cherries are a dominant flavor, with sour red fruits, wood and funk. Cherry pie. Excellent finish. Nice balance and overall, very impressive.

Zeeland 08’ tasting. This poor beer followed isabell proximus. So, lets cut him some slack. Poured cloudy brown. Aroma was red fruit and other vinegared berries. This one was very well put together and overall quite tasty. Oak, cherries, with any sweetness being cut by the funk. Didn’t quite have the finish as some others, but still very nice.

Bottle from theisti. Pours brown with some red hues. Ample tan head. The nose presents oak, cherries, and a bit of booze. The flavor is tart cherry, with some toffee and a bit of chocolate. Medium body with light carbonation and a bit of an abrasive finish.

#600. Pours a deep foreboding murky purple-ish brown with just a spot of head in the middle and zero lacing. Nose is unripe sour black cherries, metal, lemon juice, light malt, a bit a funk and a touch of oaky tannins. Taste is more sour cherries, red wine, a slight funk and light vinegar upfront, but that mellows out to some dark chocolate/coffee flavor before finishing out with more sour oaky tones. It looks flat, but the mouth feel is extremely prickly and full. Man, this is extremely good and a bit more complex for my still developing palate to decipher everything that’s going on in this gem.

Bottle shared by Miketd. Thanks Mike! Bottle pours dark brown with a thin off white head. Aroma is oak, tart cherry, vanilla, and malt. Its pretty complex. Has a medium body and is real nice. Flavor is amazing. Tart cherry, oak, bourbon, roasted malt, dark fruit, caramel, and just overall smooth. This is just an amazing brew. Thanks again for sharing this one.
