sunevdj (1764), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Oct 27, 2008 Bottle shared with bager. Pours a clear dark brown with a yellow head. Smells of bourbon, vanilla, caramel and a hint of alcohol. Quite sweet with aromas of slightly burned caramel. Also aromas of bourbon oak casks and vanilla. Has a tiny whiff of sulphur. Some residual sugars. Very (too) high carbonation. Almost full bodied. Almost too sweet fnish. Big thanks to Dennis who gave me this when I came to a tasing in his house in San Diego. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 25, 2008 I absolutely love the fact that on my last tasting while living in Toronto, we followed up Labatt Dry 10.1% with this. It really does not get any better, does it? 375ml bottle graciously shared by Harry, drank with him and Blankboy. Well i thought the original version was already bourbon barreled so what exactly is this? Bourbon bourbon barreled? I loved the original, let’s see how this is...Nice slightly bourbon aroma - nice hint of roast and chocolate underneath. Lovely. Looks great - very dark brown, big creamy brownish head. Fantastic taste - bourbon, roast, chocolate, sweet dark malt, alcohol. I do prefer the original because the bourbon stays a little more balanced in the background while in this one it is brought out forward, but still - this is terrific. Thanks so much for sharing Harry! Wasatch (270), Layton, Utah, USA Oct 25, 2008 12.7oz

Poured into my Westy glass a very nice black color, very nice carbonation, nice one-finger plus foamy/fizzy tannish head, which left a big island in the middle of my glass, with some sticky lacing around the edges. The nose is malty, good touch of bourbon, oak, and vanilla. The taste is malty, a healthy note of bourbon, with some oak, and vanilla. Starts of sweet, then the big malts kick in. Full body. The alcohol is present, but not too much. Very drinkable, I’ve waited a long time to try this one out, finally, the wait is over. Thanks Mike.
railcat1 (578), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 25, 2008 I am not a big fan of this style but when i got this bottle i sat on it for a while until now and i was very surprised to see how good this was with a nice but not overwhelming bourbon taste that poured a nice dark amber and had a malty and alcohol kick to it.CHEERS! sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 22, 2008 Thanks to our Lost Abbey memebers for opening this fine brew. Pours amber with off white head.
Aroma is just excellent, bourbon and oak just engulf the glass, plenty of nice malts and sweetness (vanilla).
Taste, dark fruits, and a nice almost coconut taste coupled with butterscotch and vanilla that coat the palate.
Despite the 12.5% abv, this is one sweet beer, filled with the flavor of bourbon.
This was very hard to put down and see the empry glass. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA Oct 22, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a one finger tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of coconut, bourbon, caramel, sweet malt, dark fruit, and oak. Taste is the same as aroma with a touch of roasted malt. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. A damn fine brew. tronraner (1905), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Oct 21, 2008 Bottle, much thanks to wetherel. Pours an elegant dark ruby brown with huge tan head. I smell a little bit of bourbon before I lift the glass. Once I get my nose in there, I smell oak, cocoa powder, alcohol, brown sugar. The flavor is rich cocoa, vanilla, oak, char... oh wait, I’m describing bourbon. Behind all that bourbon is a thick caramel sweetness, with notes of honey, raisin, and dark fruits. The finish is chocolate, char, and ample alcohol burn. The base beer is amazing, but the bourbon is overstated and detracts from my enjoyment of the beer under it. djtimeless (170), Florida, USA Oct 19, 2008 Pours out dark brown-black. Smells is sweet fruity bourbon. Taste is great, rich, roasty, creamy with some heat. Smooth but complex, very good.
