Caramelly nose with bourbon and higher alcohols. Seemless soft caramelly body where spun sugar meets grapefruit and bourbon. Really full bodied, still the softness makes it drinkable and pleasant. Whereas the bourbon opens for new experiences it also detracts a little from the seemless malt. Still overwhelming and fantastic. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Plenty of carbonation and the beer started storming up the neck of the bottle. Pours a very dark brown in color. Some nice bourbon, oak and toffee notes in the nose. Taste is more of the bourbon, but you get the other flavors from the barrel as well. Some nice oak and vanilla help out. Very carbonated and bubbly on the mouthfeel. Would have liked it to be a bit smoother. I preferred this one to the brandy version. This seems to be much more balanced and the flavors seem to compliment each other and work well. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 16, 2008 Pours deep murky brown with tan head. The aroma has malts mixing with oak and mild sweet bourbon and mild sweet and dark roasted malts as well as dark fruity esters nearing the end of the draw. The taste comes across first with sweet malt and sweet bourbon then aged oak and sweet vanilla. The vanilla note really seems to take over toward midway. Very nice offering with rich creamy goodness washing across my palate depositing bourbon, vanilla, oak and mild dark fruitiness into the finish. mar (1815), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 30, 2008 (Bottle thanks to WeeHeavy) Pours dark mahogany, reddish brown with a sand colour/light-brown head. Sweet vanilla-ish, sugary bourbon and caramel/ buttery fudge-like malt up front in the aroma. The undertones are full of dark, dried fruits like raisins, plums and figs, earthy hops, maple syrup, English fruitcake, toasted nuts, blackberries and tropical pineapple and banana hints. The nose is extremely soft and the bourbon is well integrated. The flavour is of bourbon, vanilla, caramel, buttery fudge, plums, figs, sweet blackberries, toasted nuts, English fruitcake and maple syrup. The mouthfeel is soft, velvety carbonated, light sticky, chewy and light grassy bitter in the finish. Lingering aftertaste of overripe dark fruits, light bitter hops and sweet malt. Medium to full bodied. sunevdj (1770), Copenhagen OE, Denmark

Smells of bourbon, vanilla, caramel and a hint of alcohol. Quite sweet with aromas of slightly burned caramel. Also aromas of bourbon oak casks and vanilla. Has a tiny whiff of sulphur. Some residual sugars. Very (too) high carbonation. Almost full bodied. Almost too sweet fnish. Big thanks to Dennis who gave me this when I came to a tasing in his house in San Diego. tupalev (2611), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 25, 2008 I absolutely love the fact that on my last tasting while living in Toronto, we followed up Labatt Dry 10.1% with this. It really does not get any better, does it? 375ml bottle graciously shared by Harry, drank with him and Blankboy. Well i thought the original version was already bourbon barreled so what exactly is this? Bourbon bourbon barreled? I loved the original, let’s see how this is...Nice slightly bourbon aroma - nice hint of roast and chocolate underneath. Lovely. Looks great - very dark brown, big creamy brownish head. Fantastic taste - bourbon, roast, chocolate, sweet dark malt, alcohol. I do prefer the original because the bourbon stays a little more balanced in the background while in this one it is brought out forward, but still - this is terrific. Thanks so much for sharing Harry! Wasatch (270), Layton, Utah, USA

Poured into my Westy glass a very nice black color, very nice carbonation, nice one-finger plus foamy/fizzy tannish head, which left a big island in the middle of my glass, with some sticky lacing around the edges. The nose is malty, good touch of bourbon, oak, and vanilla. The taste is malty, a healthy note of bourbon, with some oak, and vanilla. Starts of sweet, then the big malts kick in. Full body. The alcohol is present, but not too much. Very drinkable, I’ve waited a long time to try this one out, finally, the wait is over. Thanks Mike.
