The flavor profile is on the thin, icey side to the begin with...in the background theres subtle tangy citrus-touched anise or fennell...the bitterness level is on the high side at colder temps, there’s some vanilla and tangy bourbon notes...which seam to clash with the bitterness at first...kind of tastes like an ashtray. When it warms things seem to mellow out and all the clashes seem to slowly come together, though with that "is this really the right puzzle piece" kind of looseness. Did i mention that it’s completely flat. Oh, wait...it’s a lost abbey beer, you already knew that. Overall, it should be drunk at room temps and expecting no carbination...it really ends up as a bourbon bomb at warm temps, bur good smooth bourbon radiomgb (1979), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

The aroma is of chocolate, alcohol, bourbon, oak, some butterscotch, wood and vanilla. The flavour has some light alcohol in it but it never overpowers anything, chocolate, some caramel, oak, quite smooth for the size of this. Warming mouthfeel, medium body, mild carbonation. Finishes long, sweet, warming with a light bitterness.
Wow, this is quite nice. Much better than the alcoholic mess of the regular Angels Share. Many layers of complexity.
375ml bottle obtained in a trade with TheCheeseMan, thanks Dan.

Best ever. Pours a cloudy brown color with a huge light tan head. Took awhile for it to settle. Nice lacing. Aroma is oak/bourbon, dark esters, and vanilla. Flavor is oak, light yeast, molasses, esters, and vanilla. Smooth palate. Medium to full body. A fantastic beer. Snojerk321 (1962), San Diego, California, USA

Wow..........what else can i say but wow!! Poured a deep, dark brown with a very carbonated head. When I popped the bottle, it spewed for about 5 minutes or so then calmed down. Awesome nose of candied fruits (cherries, plums, dates) and sweet caramel malt. Flavor had bits of oak, spice and hints of sweet candied fruit. This one was well worth the wait!! hophead75 (1954), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

Dark brown in color with a tan head. Aroma: Bourbon, molasses, dark fruits, and vanilla. Taste: alot of molasses, bourbon, chocolate, dark fruits, oak and vanilla. Body is big but the beer is actually very smooth. Alcohol is moderate in the finish. I’ve been wanting to try this for a long time now, and I am glad I did. Definitely on par with the original Angel’s Share. Lots of oak aromas and flavors to compliment all the dark fruit and molasses. Hints of bourbon too. Great stuff. beerbill (1953), Laurel, New York, USA

I drank this bottle last night in honor of my father’s birthday; he would have been 74. God bless you, Dad. Pours a very dark brown, just about black, with a large brown head that lasted through two-thirds of the glass and left a web of lace. Very pleasant aroma of caramel, vanilla, bourbon with a few notes of raisin in there as well. The flavor is equally enjoyable with caramel, vanilla and bourbon, although I am not getting the fruit notes I picked up in the aroma. Fairly smooth on the palate with some mild heat from the alcohol approaching the swallow. This one is a sipper for sure. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA

Yes, you might think I’m a huge dick for rating a highly rated beer at a BW festival, but I don’t care... it was the first one I had and I had a 6 oz serving. Obviously very excited to try it. 2006: Cloudy dark reddish brown, some lacing and retention. Rich bourbon nose with vanilla, darker fruit, caramel, chocolate, darker sugar, earth. Full bodied, moderately sweet. It’s good, but I didn’t think it was THAT good. I’ll take a Brandy Barrel Old Stock over this in a second.
