Aroma is just excellent, bourbon and oak just engulf the glass, plenty of nice malts and sweetness (vanilla).
Taste, dark fruits, and a nice almost coconut taste coupled with butterscotch and vanilla that coat the palate.
Despite the 12.5% abv, this is one sweet beer, filled with the flavor of bourbon.
This was very hard to put down and see the empry glass. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA

The aroma is whiskey, chocolate, dark fruit, alcohol, and licorice. The flavor contains a slight sour presence with some chocolate, raisins, licorice, oak, and whiskey. The aftertaste is thick and sweet. Overall a nice beer! tronraner (1918), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Oct 21, 2008 Bottle, much thanks to wetherel. Pours an elegant dark ruby brown with huge tan head. I smell a little bit of bourbon before I lift the glass. Once I get my nose in there, I smell oak, cocoa powder, alcohol, brown sugar. The flavor is rich cocoa, vanilla, oak, char... oh wait, I’m describing bourbon. Behind all that bourbon is a thick caramel sweetness, with notes of honey, raisin, and dark fruits. The finish is chocolate, char, and ample alcohol burn. The base beer is amazing, but the bourbon is overstated and detracts from my enjoyment of the beer under it. Sweet, malty bourbony nose, woody and raisiny. Flavor mirrors the nose. The bourbon really works here, enhancing the flavor rather than killing it. Nice! pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Shared by turdferguson, thanks Sam!!! Got to try this next to a bottle of Angel’s Share. Pours a dark ruby brown with a one to two finger head. More carbonated than the Angel’s Share. The aroma shows more oak than Angels Share, sweet, very oaky, nice vanilla, light alcohol, very light bourbon undertones. The flavor was sweet, oaky, vanilla, oak tannins, as Sam said "the base beer seems hidden". The oak is very nice but it seems to detract from the foundation more than Angels Share. Still great though. mar (1883), Dallas, Texas, USA
