Bottle (2008 I think). Bottle a dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of cohcolate, roasted malt and bourbon. Flavor of sharp bourbon initially. Some buttery popcorn too. Hmm, I like the aroma but the flavor is too bourbony. Overall, ok but not great. 8/4/7/4/14 (3.7/5)

Cask at GBBF 08. First beer of the festival for me as well, and what a way to start. A very intense beer with a fierce bourbon and berry aroma coming off the extremely dark brown body. Very flavoursome - lots of vanilla, caramel malt and spices. Very smooth and the finish simply goes on and on. A complex dark ale that all beer lovers should sample.

Vanilla and oak on the nose. Pours dark brown with a thin off white head. Oaky with vanilla, an old wood flavor, somewhat bitter, with hints of chocolate and molasses.

375 ml bottle shared by jimmack, thanks Jim for sharing this one. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, oak, alcohol and slight toffee. Pours a super murky muddy brown, I did have the last bit of the bottle so maybe it was slightly extra murky, and a small off white creamy head. Nice creamy medium to full body with light carbonation. Flavor of bourbon, vanilla, oak and alcohol. I really enjoyed this one and thanks to the fight night drinking crew being slefless my bottle wasn’t even opened and can be shared at a later date.

Bit of a gusher upon opening; quite carbonated. Delicious coconut caramel aroma. Sweet but not cloying with rich caramel and a light piney hop finish. Wish this was easier to find!

12.7 oz bottle. A loud pop followed by slowly rising foam. Dark brown with a sustaining tan frosting. Nose is oak, maple and earthy brown sugar. Smooth and creamy turning light and vaporous in the mouth. Taste is a perfect melding of caramel, bourbon and barrel. Slightly dry, bitter grassy finish. Elegant and damn good.

So good. This is a crazy brew. A bit hot from the alcohol but such smooth flavor. Sweet with vanilla and bourbon and oak and even some dark rich fruits like figs and maybe plum or cherry flavor. Something I would like to age.

12.7 oz bottle thanks to rustychiles for this trade. Pops with a loud "pahp". Pours with a lot of carbonation and black bits of yeast on top of the tall rootbeer float-ish head on a mahogany brown body. First sniff .. I guess this a bourbon aged beer. Bourbon, oak, that rich toffee, almost buttery notes of bourbon. A touch of spice and raisins underneath. Creamy smooth medium body. Rich buttery bourbon flavors. Chocolate, banana, cherries, raisins, vanilla. Flavors are rich and hot. Lots of alcohol mixed in with that oak and dried fruits. Great beer, but I think they went a little over board with the bourbon. It tastes like one of the finest bourbons that I’ve ever had. But as a beer, it would be better to get more of the wonderful angel’s share out from under Heaven Hill.
