Very malty, some woddy notes as well, lots of dark fruits, super rich. More dark fruits in the flavor as well, raisins are really prominent to me. Some bourbon notes in the back of the throat, very warming and very tasty. pineypower (1104), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA

O well still have notes from Dmac’s. Thanks to jimmack for bringing this one. Pours out very dark brown with a small slightly off white head. Aroma is of bourbon, oak and some nice dark fruits. Taste is very complex with some nice earthy oak, vanilla and bourbon present throughout slight malty sweetness lingering but never overpowering, slight alcoholic burn on the finish. Very solid and very complex 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Pours out a deep brown color with a large head. Aroma was sweet with notes of malt, choco, and best of all, BOURBON! Flavor is sweet, but dominated by the bourbon. This was another great beer by these guys. barleyPops (1081), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Apr 27, 2009 375ml corked and caged bottle. after thoroughly enjoying the regular Angel Share for my 1000th rating, I had high hopes for this. sadly, I was disappointed. started out as a moderate gusher and when poured gingerly into my snifter, it ended up being mostly foam and taking several minutes to settle. aroma was alcoholic with some vanilla and hints of dark fruit and caramel. tough to get any depth or complexity from tasting this as all it did was foam up in my mouth. way too carbonated. nothing at all like the original. chicagodri (1069), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Apr 4, 2008 I happened to be in San Diego for the first time the weekend of the release, so I stood my happy ass in line and got some of this great beer. Finally opened a bottle up tonight, and it was a gusher. Take a long time to pour without an overwhelming amount of head. Pours dark brown/black with a thick tan head. Fantastic aroma of bourbon and vanilla. Nice mouthfeel, it doesn’t even seem like a barley wine. Nice caramel flavor, oak, vanilla, bourbon. Amazing beer. elihapa (1067), Honolulu, California, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Sep 5, 2009 375ml 2009 bottle. Aroma is incredibly pungent, with very strong vanilla notes layered atop dark, dried fruit such as fig and raisins. The bourbon is also quite evident, smooth, sweet, smoky and creamy. Color is dark brown with some violet, no head besides some bubbly wisps after the pour. Flavor is WOW. Really strong woody vanilla on the entry, coupled with bourbon notes and raisins. Oh my, the finish. There is more sweet in the finish -- vanilla, some licorice and bourbon – but in a wave of ridiculously delicious complexity, I also got robust earthy, almost peaty notes in the finishing essence. Angel’s Share just evokes all of the human senses in ways I have never experienced in a beer. And to add my two-sense to the LA carbonation debate: the 2009 bottle is basically flat, BUT I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT. The richness and sweetness of this brew actually successfully complements a low-carbonation rate, in my opinion. It also helped bring out the earthy notes in the finish in ways I definitely appreciated. Enough ramble, I’ll sleep well tonight. rustychiles (1058), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 24, 2008 Pours a deep dark brown to blackish color with a medium sized head. Aroma of bourbon, malt, vanilla, brown sugar and maybe some coffee or chocolate. Flavor is very complex, first the bourbon attacks then as it subdues you taste chocolate, oak, rasins, vanilla, figs. and caramel. The mouthfeel in this one is excellent with a nice soft warming sensation that melds with all of the flavors. I enjoyed this one quite a bit, yum! papajohn (1055), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA
