375 ml corked bottle. A cloudy dark brown beer with a huge, frothy, mostly lasting light brown head. The aroma very malty with notes of caramel, toasted grain, dried fruits, oak, alcohol, vanilla, bourbon and light licorice. Fantastic nose. The flavour is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. A bit syrupy and creamy. Full body, soft to lively carbonation, long finish with light to medium bitterness. Amazing and exciting beer, wth well integrated bourbon and rich of flavours. I hope one day to put my hand on another bottle of this and the brandy barrel

’07 bottle: Pours a dark amber color with a massive white head...bit of a gusher upon opening. Aroma was pure overkill in the oak/woodsy dept. Some notes of vanilla and toffee were apparent along with a strong alcohol note. WAAAAYYY overcarbonated...flavor is ridiculously hot, big on the whiskey and wood. Not much else to note. Big disappointment.

This poured mahogany in color with a creamy head. The nose was nicely complex with scents of roasted malts, vanilla, chocolate, dark fruit and a slight herbalness. The palate is similarly complex and medium to full-bodied with great richness and balance. There is plenty of carbonation to keep this deep beer fresh. Aging should allow this to mellow out a bit and be potentially perfect for my palate.

I am not a big fan of this style but when i got this bottle i sat on it for a while until now and i was very surprised to see how good this was with a nice but not overwhelming bourbon taste that poured a nice dark amber and had a malty and alcohol kick to it.CHEERS!

Draft at the Drafting Room (Exton) for their Port/Lost Abbey event. Poured cloudy amberish brown with a thin tan head that diminished quickly. Aroma of dark fruit, bourbon, slightly sweet caramel on the nose. Taste is quite complex with notes of bourbon, vanilla, tobacco, nuts, dark fruits, raisins, toffee, and oak. This palate takes you on a journey through some incredible flavors. Finishes a little boozy, but with the complexity of this, it works well.

Pours dark brown with a decent sized head, particularly for a barleywine. Aroma is phenomenal; bourbon, vanilla, maple, caramel, vinous qualities, dark fruit, and malt. Flavor is also excellent; soft and mellow, but immensely flavorful- caramelized sugars, molasses, chocolate, and beautiful alcohol burn. Epic barleywine with a palate that combines alcohol with ridiculous smoothness. Awesome.

Call me crazy, but I was wholy unimpressed with this beer. 375ml popped 6 months or so after release. Poured exactly like a coke with a thin bubbly head that fell in second and left a body reminiscent of a coke. Nose was bourbon... ....just bourbon. Taste was big on bourbon, slightly watery, just tasted like a poor barleywine that was oddly roasty and douched with bourbon.

Huge thanks to Solan who gave me this beer as a bonus in a trade. Rediculous I know. Poured a dark brown color with a large head. Nose was vanilla and strong bourbon. Taste was much the same. This felt quite one dimensional to me. Big caramel sweetness througout and only alcohol and bourbon to tone it down. Not hard to drink by any means, but not living up to the hype. Thanks again solan for the chance to try this.
