Shared with blankboy & tupalev, bottle courtesy of irishboy - who else?. HAD to open this tonight - after the Labbat Blue Dry 10.1% it was an obligation. Poured deep, deep mahogany, large lasting fluffy mottled tan/brown head. Lush well-blended bourbon/vanilla with medium-roast malt, cocoa, nuttiness, dry grain - not over the top at all. Excellent taste - oak, vanilla, fresh grain, definite alcohol and a surprising presence of green herbal hops. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel, surprisingly lively mouthfeel, a fresh, bourbony finish but the underlying BW malt and alcohol stand up to the barrel aging well - outstanding: I think I prefer the (version 001 of course!) regular Angel’s Share, but this is stunning in its own right - once again, huge thanks, Richard. beerguy101 (3940), Newark, California, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 21, 2007 Tasted on tap at the 2007 Bistro West Coast Barrel Aged Beer Festival. The barley wine poured a deep amber color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is oak, bourbon, brown sugar, molasses and a touch of vanilla. A full-bodied barley wine. The malts are caramel, fruity, sweet. There are pronounced brown sugar and dark fruit flavors in this one, which combine with the bourbon sweetness. Very complex beer. Very smooth tasting. The 10.5% alcohol is slightly noticeable. Excellent beer. Contrasted nicely with the 2007 version at the fest as well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Grovlam (3810), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 20, 2008 Bottle. [After party @ Papsoe, thanks buddy] Dark mahogany like color. Aroma was very complex with notes of dried fruit, mild bread, wood and vanilla like, very vinous, mild underlying hoppy feel as well. Over the palate came an explosion of notes with raisins, prunes, toffee, and almost sweet chocolate like. Full bodied with an average carbonation and thick mild alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet flavor with good counter bitterness and a hint of acidic as well. Lingering complex dried fruity and bread like finish. Oh man this one was extremely well brewed. 8 / 3 / 9 / 5 / 17 Theis (3756), Denmark

The number & name of my all time favorite soccer club/team. 12,7 ounce bottle. Thanks Chris! Opened with a loud pop. Pours dark brown with a small creamy brown head & lacings. Nose is amazing. So much complexity its nearly overwhelming. Dark fruits, coffee, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, wood and so on. Warm, sweet, vinous, smooth, sticky, velvetly soft. Every drop is priceless! This is why I spend so much time on beer. Rciesla (3670), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

Aroma is bourbon, chocolate, etoh, caramel malt. Flavor is just that with a touch of oakyness. This is a truely outstanding BW. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 13, 2008 Poured a hazy red brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, light cocoa, vanilla, dried fruits, caramel, and a bit of bourbon as well. Taste of more cocoa, some roast, raisins, and other dark fruits, some vanilla, oak, and a bit of bourbony alcohol in the finish. I guess I’ll be part of the camp who prefers the Brandy version to t his one, but big thanks to EDA for sharing this! badgerben (3600), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 12, 2008 Barley Wine #100. I definitely can’t thank BDR enough for this one! Black color with a large head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla and a little fruitiness. Dark and sweet malt flavor. Moderate bourbon, vanilla, oak. A bit of chocolate and coffee. Almost tastes closer to a stout than a barley wine. Delicious.
