Cask at GBBF ’08. First beer of the festival for me. Some said this would be best. It nearly was too. Very dark brown with no head. Strong, sweet date and dark fruit aroma with leather and liquorice. Intensely sweet, smooth taste with late and surprisingly intenese bitterness. Beautifully crafted beer. What a start to the fest!

Bottle shared by kmweaver. Thanks. Poured an opaque dark brown color. Head was khaki with good retention and lacing. Good looking beer. Aroma was of bourbon, vanilla, and brown sugar. Sweet on the tongue and boozy with bourbon, raisin, brown sugar, and toffee flavors. Creamy, medium to full bodied mouth feel. Good stuff. Not over-bourbonated, some might say.

Cask, at GBBF 08. Jet black, thin beige shortlived head and minimal condition. Mouthfillingly oily in the mouth with hints of sweet liquorice, coffee, and vanilla backed with oak and a strong spirity air, full and alcoholic in the mouth with more liquorice and vanilla, a slight phenolic roasted note and a delicate sweetness, spirity alcohol in the finish with yet more liquorice and a developing apple note more suggestive of calvados than bourbon.

Enjoyed 2 beautifal tasters of this at the Anniversary Fest. The bourbon came through nicely and it really complements the flavors of the angel’s share. Fantastic brew.

bottle, rating #800!!! This bottle came from beastiefan2k. Wow what an experience this beer is. A nice brown pour leads to the best smelling beer I have ever smelled. As three friends and I sipped this aromas were described as vanilla, bourbon, oak, pecan pie, raisins, prunes, molasses, and more. The flavr is just beautiful. Sweetness and touches of bourbon are married seamlessly. The vanilla, raisins and maple syrup come out wonderfully. An amazing beer.

Bottle. Blackish beer with a huge tan head. Bourbon aroma with malt and a bit of chocolate. Bourbon flavor with malt, chocolate, vanilla, and oak. Fuller bodied. LIngering bourbon. Needs a bit of time. I like the regular version better as the bourbon starts to compete a bnit here without fully complementing. Still a great beer though.

Superb aroma of wood, vanilla, caramel and molasses. The flavor is near perfect, there’s some fruits, wood, vanilla, molassses, chocolate and caramel. The body is medium with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. It’s like the regular Angel’s Share, simply amazing.
