Caramelly nose with bourbon and higher alcohols. Seemless soft caramelly body where spun sugar meets grapefruit and bourbon. Really full bodied, still the softness makes it drinkable and pleasant. Whereas the bourbon opens for new experiences it also detracts a little from the seemless malt. Still overwhelming and fantastic. pineypower (1103), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA

O well still have notes from Dmac’s. Thanks to jimmack for bringing this one. Pours out very dark brown with a small slightly off white head. Aroma is of bourbon, oak and some nice dark fruits. Taste is very complex with some nice earthy oak, vanilla and bourbon present throughout slight malty sweetness lingering but never overpowering, slight alcoholic burn on the finish. Very solid and very complex 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Pours out a deep brown color with a large head. Aroma was sweet with notes of malt, choco, and best of all, BOURBON! Flavor is sweet, but dominated by the bourbon. This was another great beer by these guys. 1FastSTi (2575), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 14, 2008 Extremely loud pop that echoed in the large warehouse I’m drinking this in. The beer is EXTREMELY carbonated. Violent carbonation is visible in the murky dark brown/black body. A GIGANTIC 6 finger foamy tan head sits on top. Very nice lacing. Fortunately it didn’t gush because I had it pretty cold. The aroma is strongly molasses and brown sugar meets bourbon and oak. Smells like an old ale. Some strawberry hops. Chocolate and dried wood. Caramelized malts. The flavor is rich milk chocolate that morphs into a deeply caramelized molasses and dark fruits like dates and raisins. Bourbon is strong but doesn’t impart alcohol. Surprisingly smooth for 12.5% ABV. Rich full body that isn’t sticky but has a nice lingering quality. I like this beer a lot! StoutCat (85), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Light bubbles hug the edge of the glass. Smells of sweet bourbon notes, loads of caramel malt, with traces of dark fruits, but they are seemingly almost drowned out by the majestic bourbon. The flavor is a wonderfully blended combination of that ever present bourbon, rich syrupy malts, caramel candy, and a biting alcohol presence that seemed appropriate for this beer. Some vanilla and toffee notes along with a fluter of oak and light cream. Great balance for this style of beer. i came away more impressed with this beer than its brandy barrel aged brother.
