12.7oz. corked and caged bottle from Sinners release. Opens with a loud pop and some fizz, but pours a beautiful deep ruby brown with a foamy tan head that leaves nice sheets of lace. The aroma literally explodes from the bottle and pour, releasing rich vanilla, toffee, caramel, bourbon, oak, dark fruits, and a host of warming, enjoyable, and amazingly blended others that are too numerous to identify; a phenomenal aromatic experience. The flavor integrates the nose very well, with more vanilla, toffee/caramel, dark fruits, bourbon and oak. The bourbon is well integrated and not overly done. Only slight warming, otherwise the alcohol is well hidden. The only notable detraction is that its a bit over carbonated right now. VERY drinkable, undoubtably incredible, and the only real disappointment in the entire experience is that it ended...

375 ml. bottle. Dark brown color with a medium tan head. Aromas of sweet chocolate malt, Irish coffee, and vanilla. Flavors of cappuccino, sweet vanilla, and a hint of oak. This beer is quite smooth and pleasantly warming. It was a pleasure to try such an excellent barrel aged beer - the only problem is now I really need to try the standard release... A superlative effort!!

Poured from a bottle with a loud pop that scared the cats!! Big tan head on top of a dark brown dense color. Aromas are luscious with dark fruit coffee, bourbon. Very silky smooth on your palate and in your mouth.Flavors are amazingly complex with caramel sweet malt, chocolate undertones, and yeast. Crazy long finish with perfect lacing!! Fantastic!!

Hmm and Wow! I was wanting so hard to find a perfect rating. Well, 4.8 is close. I tried the spectacular bourbon barrel aged Angel’s Share beer today at Lost Abbey’s anniversary tasting. Wow! Probably the best beer I’ve ever had. Sweet creamy head. Deep rich color. Nice bourbon aftertaste. Nice malty smell at the bottom of the glass. People tell you to rate the smell first, before your smell sensors are saturated, but i think you should wait until the end, where the temperature has raised and the glass is filled with aroma. First taste, and i would say a touch more sweetness. Second tasting, and a touch less. Hmmm. just an incredible beer. I think they open a bottle once a week at the tasting room. They are releasing another in August. 10,5,9,5,19:4.8 Rerate: On tap at 2008 release: Perfect! 5.0 Rerate: Bottle with iowaherkeye at PP bottle shop. 4.8 Rerate: 5/8/08: Bottle at home. Strong carbonation. Tart acidic burn. Not good. Bad bottle or aging poorly? I’m afraid to ask. Drain poured half of it:3.9

Merritt Island Throwdown ’08: Bottle, courtesy mMFgumby10. Pours a very dark brown, with a thick foamy cream-colored head. Nice wet lacing on the glass. Sweet aromas, candy corn, bourbon esters, molasses. Flavor is sublime: very sweet overall, with raisin and brown sugar being predominant flavors. Caramel is there too, but it’s intertwined with rich, alcoholic booziness. A nice vanilla aftertaste finishes each sip. Delightful. Medium-bodied, and very well balanced. Alcohol is present but it’s masked by the overall flavor and complexity of the beer.

2008 Release 12.7 oz bottle poured into a snifter - thanks to Jake65. I have really been looking forward to The Angels Share... and it really did not disappoint... the hype surrounding this beer is proven to be true... I just don’t know about the price tag. I really don’t think a 750ml bottle of Angels Share is worth $30... I would rather have $30 of other (better) beer than 1 bottle of Angels Share... but that’s just me. Having said that... this one is loaded with carbonation (as others have mentioned) and takes away from the beer for the first half of the glass.... huge 3 finger tan head which slowly came down a bit to 2 fingers - deep deep brown / light black in color. A true beauty... needless to say. Huge bourbon aromas seep out of the bottle and glass. At first the carbonation really takes hold of the upper palate... letting the bourbon notes fill the mouth, while creating a thinner body. As the beer warms and reaches the lower portion of the glass, the carbonation dissipates and The Angels Share becomes something much greater. The body is stronger and more alive with flavors of deep dark fruits, some oak, lots of vanilla and of course bourbon. A really strong finish completes this one with more bourbon and a slight alcohol burn. I am so glad I got to have a bottle of this and look forward to having the Brandy Barrel version one day.

2007 vintage thanks to the Tampa Tasting Group. Pours cola brown with a tan head. Nose is malt, bourbon, brandy, overripe dark fruit, caramel sweetness, and lots of fruity, bourbony, sugary goodness. Flavor is malt, bourbon, wood, vanilla, dark fruit, caramel, and lots of mellow sweetness. Balanced for a bourbon beer, yet still boozy. Medium bodied, sweet finish, and overall pleasure in a bottle.
