Head is a medium tan color and the beer is overcarbonated enough to warrant an extremely slow pour.Smells like heaven. Hints of oak, maybe a slight boozy aroma. A bit of vanilla I think.Tastes like it smells. Well, sort of. It’s better. There’s a slight bourbon flavor, which unlike a lot of beers, is very subdued and balanced with the other flavors of vanilla, oak, maybe some dark fruits, and a bit of caramel. Minimal amounts of alcohol are present in the taste. Very impressed.Mouthfeel is where I feel this beer suffers. There’s simply too much carbonation in here. Instead of feeling a syrupy thickness I feel a fizzy bubbling sensation. With as relatively thin as the beer is, I feel it would serve better with a heavier mouthfeel. However, I think that after you move past the beers somewhat fizzy nature, it’s very very drinkable. None of the flavors are overwhelming and always in balance. The only thing that would stop me from drinking more of this would be the lack of availability (I had to get this VIA trading) and the fact that the ABV would knock me onto my ass in a hurry. Especially because it’s so well hidden. I am very impressed with this beer as a whole. Most of the regular Lost Abbey brews I’ve been unimpressed with, and with all the hyped up beers I’ve tasted recently, this is one of a few that I feel lives up to it’s hype. bikesandbeers (468), Los Angeles, California, USA

This was the first thing I tried and nothing else could compare. Pulled from the cask a dark brown with some redish hues. Thick and cream head fill my plastic taster glass. Aroma of cherries, oak and bourbon. Flavor was very rich with rasins and dates. A very bourbony finish, with alcohol warming and sharpness, but without a harsh flavor. I tired it with a friend whom I recently shared some Westy with, and we both agreed this blew it out fo the water. Easily the best thingk I’ve ever had. DirtyMartini (194), Los Angeles, Alabama, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 9, 2007 on cask at 1st anniversary party - the flavor was very similar to the original angels share...with flavors of dark fruits, vanilla and oak but this time with a splash of bourbon thrown in for good measure. it was easily the taster i got the most while i was there....i probably had 3 or 4 of these. fantastic. i do have to admit though... i gave them both the exact same rating but rated this 1 pt lower in overall simply because i think i prefered the original slightly more (but i wouldnt ever turn this one down if offered) mcbackus (753), Merritt Island, Florida, USA

Wow..........what else can i say but wow!! Poured a deep, dark brown with a very carbonated head. When I popped the bottle, it spewed for about 5 minutes or so then calmed down. Awesome nose of candied fruits (cherries, plums, dates) and sweet caramel malt. Flavor had bits of oak, spice and hints of sweet candied fruit. This one was well worth the wait!! chef201atc (249), Weatherford, Texas, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Deep brown, opaque pour topped with a foamy layer of deep tan bubbles. Wonderful nose of cherries, vanilla, bourbon, and oak. Palate is every so slightly chewy, but smooth with light, soft carbonation. Taste is exquisite – tart cherries, whiskey and oak. Just an absolutely fantastic beverage! Thanks to RollinHard for sharing this one! Marsiblursi (1650), Göteborg, Sweden
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 30, 2008 (Bottle thanks to WeeHeavy) Pours dark mahogany, reddish brown with a sand colour/light-brown head. Sweet vanilla-ish, sugary bourbon and caramel/ buttery fudge-like malt up front in the aroma. The undertones are full of dark, dried fruits like raisins, plums and figs, earthy hops, maple syrup, English fruitcake, toasted nuts, blackberries and tropical pineapple and banana hints. The nose is extremely soft and the bourbon is well integrated. The flavour is of bourbon, vanilla, caramel, buttery fudge, plums, figs, sweet blackberries, toasted nuts, English fruitcake and maple syrup. The mouthfeel is soft, velvety carbonated, light sticky, chewy and light grassy bitter in the finish. Lingering aftertaste of overripe dark fruits, light bitter hops and sweet malt. Medium to full bodied. BDR (2167), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
