Aroma glows as a rich, intense earthy brett and caramel. Bourbon leaps out ahead of the distinct Cuvee de Tomme element. Red fruit and aged alcohol. Dry and cottony. Complex and balanced even in the aroma. Pours an mostly still cloudy brown-ruby, with golden edges. Flavor morphs through many unique stages, much as CdT does. Dominated by that enigma, but tempered and not so fruity. Grapes and belgian candy. Bits of caramel and toast. Vibrant cherry. Aged alcohol. Middle body. This beer is so stunning for its incredible balance between alcohol, funky dryness, sugar and fruit. It’s again the best of many worlds. Faint dusty hop glow reaches for even more complexity. I think the other elements of this beer helped to develop a little more complexity and feed the CdT monster. The worst part of this beer is its lack of carbonation. Otherwise it’d be right up there. kmweaver (2474), Sebastopol, California, USA

Pours a murky, reddish-brown color; mostly headless with plenty of viscosity. Loads of plums, tart cherries, figs, and citrus-laden funk in the aroma; a touch of chewy brown sugar; beautifully blended and soft, intricate tartness. Full mouthfeel: loads of tart plums, dried cherry and strawberries; intense density and dried red fruit (almost like boozy fruit rollups, but nothing boozy here); very drinkable, dense blended sour ale. Lengthy finish, showing lots of residual brett, fruit rollups (strawberry, cherry), and some residual brown sugar without being sticky or boozy in the slightest. wickedpete (629), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA

Sticky plum and wood nose, along with some sweet brown sugar and toasted bread, bran, plums and black cherries, and even some brandy scented pancake syrup. Mild prickly texture up front, nearly flat, but moderately tart and woody. Stems and pits all over this thing. Thick and viscous with a bretty tartness, dried cranberries and some dried red grapes in the drying finish. Good stuff, but would like to have more carbonation and perhaps more of the brandy character that’s in the nose show up in the flavor. Still, few complaints. ryan (1780), Beltsville, Maryland, USA

Cuvee de Tommme, cherry nose with toffee, cola, lots of pittiness and hay. Light to moderate sweetness, moderate tartness with sour pie cherries, almond-like cherry pits, juicy citrus, caramel, light roast, black berry and plums skins. Medium/full body is very soft with moderate carbonation. Finish is long with a lasting pithy bitterness. deftim13 (103), California, USA

I was lucky enough to be a part of the blending of this. Being able to taste the components before blending then tasting the final product was an experience unlike any other. No bottle number(gift from Tomme) Nice dark red/brown pour with a small white head that fades rather quickly. Sour aroma with a nice light bourbon. Fig, plum and sour cherries. Taste is tart with a slight oak and vinegar aftertaste. Mouth feel is thick. Light carbonation. Outstanding beer from the gang at Lost Abbey. Huge thanks to Tomme for letting me be a part of the blending of this one! gotbeach (138), San Diego, California, USA
